It may be correct that the company that runs BK NZ has gone bust, but without that company or a replacement there in no BK NZ. No matter how you sugar coat it, they are the only one's licensed in NZ to operate under the BK Logo and agreements so their demise until they can sell that agreement must mean the interim demise of BK in NZ. If you look at the Level 3 announcement, the fast food chains listed to operate, only drive thru or uber eats or doordash are McDonalds, KFC and Domino's. The parent company can take over, but more than likely the owners will reinvent themselves.

Because if you thing B.Brown Industries can just walk in and buy it, think again. Just doesn't work that way in franchising.

I seem to remember reading that the receivers will reopen the chain, and try and sell it as a going concern. Barry B Yep, doesn't stop the parent company buying it for next to nothing. Because if you thing B.Brown Industries can just walk in and buy it, think again. Just doesn't work that way in franchising. Maybe the receivers already had any required permissions, I don't know. Didn't read all of the article. Can't be that difficult to find I imagine. UPDATE; An article. Staff at Burger King are nervous for their future after the fast-food chain's parent company was placed into receivership on Tuesday. The food giant employs more than 2600 staff across the country and operates 83 stores. Unite Union national secretary Gerard Hehir says the announcement has rattled staff, who are fearful for their jobs. "[Workers] finally got Burger King to take up the subsidy and pay them the wages," Hehir told Newshub. "Having just got over that, now the worry will be what is the longer-term future is in terms of employment? So understandably they're quite worried." Hehir claims Burger King's parent company is voluntarily washing its hands of its New Zealand restaurants. "All the indications are that most fast food operators will bounce back very fast and there's no reason why Burger King should be any exception. They couldn't withstand a few weeks, with a Government subsidy," he said. The shareholding companies that have been placed in receivership are Tango Finance Limited, Tango New Zealand Limited and Antares New Zealand Holdings Limited. However, their parent company is Blackstone Group, a US private equity firm which bought the franchise for around $108 million in 2011. "This is not about a business owner that can't afford to pay their bills. Blackstone Group has nearly $200 million in capital that it can access," Hehir said. In a letter to staff, Burger King's chief executive Michelle Alexander said the company "does not have the cash flow to fund creditors and rent payments", NZME reported. She said the move to go into receivership was fuelled by the uncertainty surrounding the length of the lockdown and concerns over the country's economic recovery. Grant Graham, of KordaMentha, said the food giant's finances have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown. Graham has been appointed as the company's receiver, along with Brendon Gibson, also of KordaMentha. When approached for comment Burger King directed enquiries to KordaMentha. "The business needed more capital and [Blackstone] made the decision not to put more capital in," Gibson told Newshub. He said KordaMentha aims to restart the business post-lockdown and find a new owner.

I think i will put a bid in for it ,but change the name as we have Subway ,now we will have Midway if successful The name of burgers would change . Start the morning off with a Highrev burger ,a great burger full of punch Another has to be the Brown burger toasted on both sides ,full of tender stuffings And for morning tea a ram jam burger soft and rather unique . To end the day with for the Golden oldies a Roger the Dodger a real crap burger full of the days leftovers .. And not forgetting the dirt track burger a trail of destruction where ever it has been bought, a street cleaners nightmare home brew sales will be sold to wash the most famous contents down so you can drive home safely The panel of helpers are working on other named burgers such as a Magilla one ,so more input the better you could be in the draw for a bag of second grade kumara,s commonly known in the trade as ? tucker

Hungry patrons probably have to stay local, so we'd need heaps of branches. Could call our partnership Go Midways Drive Through Burgers - " ask about our group bookings, parties of 2 or less a specialty"

Not sure about interpreting the government and the rules however it would be awesome to have a Covid 19 season special to the Burger King Series even if it was crew drivers and support officials ect only ( no public) No other classes racing. I would pay to watch. The ground is still perfect for racing. Pits would be mostly empty with only one class so bubbles would be easy to have.
