What someone needs to do is build a ministock to the same size as the current ones but using a front beam and maybe another type of engine etc maybe even a space frame and trail it to the cars of today. It's there on the track to prove there is another way. It's the only way the class is going to drop in price and move forward. Isn't that how ministocks started, a few guys built a car and turned up at a track with it? Talking about it here or trying to email snz isnt going to do anything. Look how long it took to get the new plans in place.

Whole class needs a rethink in general. Parts are 30-40 years old and its not just speedway people that are hunting out these parts.
Seeing as they have adopted saloon rules how about something like a cross between the aussie jnrs and the uk ministox. Set engine capacity and wheel base and add a few bars.

Seeing as they have adopted saloon rules how about something like a cross between the aussie jnrs and the uk ministox. Set engine capacity and wheel base and add a few bars. Where the cost goes is in the blueprinting of engines, and the scarcity of 40 plus year old parts. Easy answer for engine costs - probably 95% or more of the class run Datsuns (not saying Toyota engines are no good, its probably because Datsun B310's had a coil diff and Corolla's never did...) - so make it a one engine class, with a Claimer rule like USA classes have with SBC crate engines. Allow $2k for a rebuild to standard and that's your claim amount. Then there is no point spending big money on an engine, as first time you win a race you will get $2K and someone elses engine as a swap. Do it at the track on the night so you know what you are getting, easy to swap an engine in a Ministock, only takes half an hour. Parts for B12's aren't really a limiting factor, everything is available, its just the cost of blueprinting and "development" that threatens the class... Suspension wise, make it as per my previous post - standard front beam axles, weld on 4 bar links for diffs, a standard spec of coilovers - then there is no need for hard to get 40 year old classic car parts. Could easily be phased in, come up with a new standard spec plan and let both types run together, eventually people will change over to the newer design as its easier to maintain, engine claimer rule would apply to all cars. Of course, none of this will ever happen...
