Hi Magorians,
Not my ususal thread, but Lance is facing down his 50th consecutive racing seaoson next summer.
We want to talk about this and show some of the history of the sport as we get closer to next season.
Can I ask the knowledgeable poeple on this site who else is in the '50 years' club?

That is quite a milestone in itself ,and just goes to show a good tune can still be played on a old fiddle Just have to get the thinking cap on ,cause if you take 50 years off the likes of Greame Colson that makes him a school boy still .....

78A modified, Ray Chatfield, don't know his racing history but he has been around the scene for along time, also in his 70's and has a son and grandson racing as well in the stock car class. Hope you have an album of Lance's racing history and can post them on here at a later date, the photo's I've seen of his early years when they were road cars with a cage, then up until a couple of decades ago still resembled road going vehicles will make interesting and mouthwatering viewing. Congratulations Lance on this mile stone and also the family as without family support 50yrs of racing wouldn't be achieved. Lance has over the years taken young drivers under his wing and given them set up advice and worked on their cars , a very young Nigel Ross 46A is one out of the Jennings stable of learning. Many current and past competitors have benefitted from mechanical advice and help from Lance. Hope we are down to a level in this covid pandemic that allows spectators back into the stadiums to be able to view 1st hand this outstanding achievement in speedway.

Clive Elliot must be close too. I'm sure they said on the live stream of the GP this year that it was 40 years since he won the GP?

Lance and Ray did start about the same time, but thinking maybe Ray hasn't raced every year?

I know it's not 50 years but 27c superstock driver Peter Field celebrated his 40th racing season during the season just gone which in itself is a massive achievement.
