I notice on Speedway New Zealand website dates have been approved for the NZ Midgets 5th and 7th February and Sprintcar Grand Prix 28th November.
Have to assume these dates have been submitted by SPL and if so it's good to see they are planning ahead even though the tender process hasn't closed yet, but should Speedway New Zealand have confirmed these dates.
Seems like, by confirming these dates, they are breaking their own rules. Currently no-one holds the Licence at Western Springs.

have they changed the SNZ Rulebook or given dispensation to run title over two nonconsecutive days?
note: looking through the rulebook I can not find any mention of 2 day championships having to be on consecutive days. Was that an actual rule that has been removed or was that never an actual rule as such just taken as such.

Yep I understand that, but in view of the fact everyone knew a Tender process was underway, it would have been proper not to actually approve the dates applied for by SPL, or at least make them subject to the outcome of the Tender process. |

A little good will goes along way ,If SPL arent the successful tenderer and the best dressed real estate agent from the West is :)at least the competitors have champion dates to look forward to and us old age pensioners can go and watch . We just might catch a glimpse of Percy or a sound may be nice ...  |

there is a precedent set as previous promoters have applied for championships and set dates as per Rule book for the new incoming promoter

I hear ya, but why should the host tracks of GP and/or island titles be inconvenienced? Take a track that has an island title and a GP in two different classes, one of which has their NZ title at WS. That track has decided the title for the WS class will be the biggest money spinner for them, so they want it on their peak dates for visitor #s to their region. They can use the smaller title as a fall back if the bigger title dates is declined. They can't get their flagship event for that season locked in till the WS promotion had been sorted. I think SNZ have done the right thing and if the springs gets a new promotion, we'll they just have to stick it up for their first year. Assuming the season does kick off at the normal time any new promotion will have plenty on their plate from the time they are confirmed till opening night. |

As I said earlier maybe they should have at least been "subject to" But as "ramjam" pointed out, particularly if its the NZ Champs, other tracks running a championship for the same class are inconvenienced by the delay so any new promoter does just have to suck it up. |

Date options are limited as the dates that can be run this coming season are set already. They are included in the RFP also so any incoming promotor knows also. They question is not when does the successful promotor want to run the champs but which of the preset dates do they want to run them on. |
