Is there a place for an entry level Stock car class ( not mini stocks - age restricted) which is a true budget class ( what the intention of standard stocks were originally) But restricted to Flat chassis, wrecker fi motors ( ci restrictions, restricted exhaust diameter and maybe tire size) There must be a few flat chassis still around that are not competitive as current stockcars that can be raced again.
Being competitive in the current stockcar class is not cheap. The new class could be a stepping stone from mini stocks or purely entry level stockcar racing.
I know a few people will say it will dilute current classes but a slower contact class would increase entertainment and provide the step into a full contact class.
Yes fi engines require high fuel pressure but I just want to see a true budget class , if there is such a thing. Flat chassis are strong.
Maybe even just use them as teams racing events . 1 or 2 races could be teams races every meeting or every second meeting ( yes at slower speeds - less damage )
I am just trying to enhance the stockcar class while focusing on the money side.

The spaceframe has been around since what, 1983? 37 years. Some tracks wouldn't of seen more than a small handful of flat chassis on their tracks for over 30 years now. I really don't think they'd be enough of them around to offer anything at all unless they were all in one place at one time. They'd be a Sunday afternoon club only class at best, IMO.

Maybe Historic Stockcar racing (genuine old and brand new replica's) could be filling the budget gap you speak of although I think most of the current competitors are in the class on its own merits rather than as a stepping stone. They have a lot of fun. Its a popular and growing class, the cars look and sound cool and some are pretty quick. Dave Evans will be debuting his new car this season. 1p is Elvis Rowlands - Slant Six Valiant power.
