One more from the mighty south. Stealth Engineering posted a photo at the end of May of a Mod they were working on. From the advertising on the side of the bonnet we can see it is the re-emergence of the 5GM of Brandon Parkinson, ex 88T Triple X. It will be great to have Brandon back in a Modified after a bit of a break. He came very close to getting a 'NZ' number last time the NZ title was at Greymouth. Is that BSL Modified still in christchurch?? 51C Brent Adams made an appearance in it last season at Woodford Glen. He still has it as far as I'm aware.

"Here at Huntly speedway, the current lap record holder for the modified class is Mike Harrison with a 13.13 which was performed in his first season of racing a mod in 2018, he is due to return to the modified ranks at Huntly next season after focusing on his TQ career last season, definitely one to keep an eye on" Courtesy of the new Huntly Speedway website we have another confirmed returnee, 78H Mike Harrison. Mike did an excellent job in the ex 6A Brian Jesen car over 2018/2019, and it is good to have another driver in the ranks that seems pretty happy to travel. Source: www.sporty.co.nz/modifieds1

An interesting bit of news from 'Doing it in the Dirt' radio show is that Murray Gordge is currently building three brand new Modifieds for the coming season. I will be intrigued to see who takes ownership of those, especially given Murray has said they will be the last complete cars to ever come out of the Gordge workshop. The most recent Gordge Modifieds to be built were the current 21S Newton Gordge and 71S John Jackson cars - both of which have been right on the pace over the last three seasons. Source: Doing it in the Dirt - Radio Show(See 10 September episode, approx 13 minute mark)Also for the benefit of those without facebook Nathan Astle has released the finished look for his ex 82C/99GM/871C-1NZ LRC. I heard the brother of that 7c was peddling the modified this season. Rumour has it he’s the weapon of the boys, born with a lead foot.

Good pack of quick cars there tonight, good depth in the field without having the standout of a Leech/Keegan/McKay who stand out a mile
Dark horse for the champs for me will be 9c Lennon, first night back after a couple of years and looked racey. 82c and 4c looked sharp, 18c showed plenty of promise in the ex Leech machine and Nathan Astle settled in extremely well for a very good win in the final heat
Shame Rae and Goodwin didn’t make it out pit gate tonight as I’d expect both to be on the pace too
