This years Knoxville nationals have been under doubt for quite a while, this morning the board of trustees officially cancelling the event. With covic19 running rampant stateside they had no option but to do so for the safety of drivers, team members, and of course the public. This was to be the 60th running of the nationals which makes it even sadder. On top of this news that several teams are considering calling it a day due to severly restricted racing programs and some losing sponsorship deals as a result. A sad day indeed, but plaudits to the Knoxville administration for making the correct call.

They are still doing 3 nights of racing with the Outlaws on that weekend finishing with the Capitini Classic on the final night with only 7000 spectators each night but yes it is very sad and it makes you even madder about a certain country doesn't it.

I'm surprised is still so much racing to be honest. Don't see many mask wearers in the crowds either. US is still very bad with Covid.

You can be mad about a certain country all you like but quite frankly the USA only have themselves to blame for THEIR current situation. Too many people treating this as a conspiracy to trample on their freedoms and a dumbass President that was not...is not...and never will be a politician! Anthony

And although it is sad that major events are being cancelled globally...not just the US...the right calls are being made given the numbers we are still seeing. I stand by my comments regarding the US...they SHOULD have had a better handle on this...and I don`t make these comments flippantly. I have been talking to relatives and other contacts over there and none of them are surprised that they lead the stats charts. Anthony

yes i agree America took it all to lightly at the start like us all,we all thought like a famous saying it was fake news, how wrong we were,it looks like alot of the states in America are following Trumps advice and living like normal and going to the speedway again, believe it or not more tracks are opening with spectators in certain states.

Events not really canceled just downgraded to one with a smaller purse, with a new label attached Still a multi-day sprint car show happening at Knoxville in early August.
