Well midgets didn't seem to work! Great whilst they were going but not so much when they were crashing.
I don't think they need a push start class as a support class.
A 6 teams stockcar teams event would work for me, or streetstocks.

I agree midgets are not the class to support this meeting but not sure what is for this first class meeting. Real hard act to support superstock teams racing of that calibre

Brett lowe memorial cup for stockcars. also get rid of the consolations and race it like straford superstock teams meeting coming up. Every team gets 4 cars. Make it worth the while.

Can the consolation, damages track and dusts out the crowd. Bring back the bikes. Great track will bring great sidecar racing. Quick turnarounds, and they generally never slow the meeting down. They look professional and I am sure the crowd would appreciate them, especially those on the bottom rows of seating! The bike boys and girls would put on a great show, and something different. Could also limit bikes to maybe 15 (plus 4-5 reserves)by invitation to guarantee top pairings on the night and 5 in every race. Also making the only cars on track the ones the crowd came to see.

OK here's what will happen when I'm prime minister. Teams not in the top 4 after night 1 will race over 4 races, 3 cars per team, all 8 teams represented in every race. I will set up a working group (read jobs for the boys) to determine the points system, but it won't be 24 down to 1. The bottom 10 cars prob won't score any points. Team with highest points after those 4 races wins the Nearly Good Enuff cup (we might have another working group to work out a better name)
Then the 16 sidecars who qualified early on in the season (another working group will sort out the qualification process) will race the proper 5 heat championship format to find the winner of the Hang On Tight cup (OK we might need a working group for that name as well).
To round out the show the 3 heats of the 10 v 10 car North Island v South Island streetstock teams challenge will take place to see which island wins the Panelbeaters Cup
That is a good night of speedway that won't knacker the track and keeps all under employed speedway ppl on good govt jobs.
You're all very welcome

Totally agree, midgets were a waste of time, there’s a time and a place for them, and on finals night of the biggest contact speedway event in Nz isn’t that time. And it showed for their final, crowd had almost disappeared.
I guess maybe the midget series and last year the BK series pay money to promotion to get there event on the program?
Just hold more superstock consolation races, or get a full field of stockcars or streetstocks, even youth mini stocks, they are the future, give them some races in front of the massive crowd as probably in 5-10 years many will be starting in this event.

Would anyone complain about having three tiers of teams racing on night two?
Championship tier - teams ranked 1-4 Shield tier - teams ranked 5-8 Plate tier - teams ranked 9-12
Semi-finals and finals in all three tiers making for 12 teams races on night two. Potential issue being the level of damage taken by teams at the bottom of the rankings on night one. though I note many were in attendance for the consolation races.

Would be perfect in an ideal world Percy as that's what people are there to watch, teams racing. However the teams don't race for free and it's likely the promotion would need to put massive price rises on the tickets to cover the cost of extra teams races forcing livestream prices up and so on. A 4 or 6 way Stockcar teams Champs on the 2nd night would be popular and they definitely don't get paid anywhere near the same as the Superstock class so could be more cost effective to the promotion.

Yep me. 5-8 only works now so they can get to a podium and a possible 4th. Can't see anyone fighting hard for 11th/12th. Really see benefit in a 6 team stockcar teams event. Consolation races should be dropped. Great the teams are there but outside of the top 8 park em up.

As thats why we are there. With the even teams was only one team that got a hiding this year and couldnt front with numbers. So 12 would of worked. Also cant get rid of consolations as teams sell advertising for two nights of racing in front of a crowd and tv audience. Put to teams. They may be okay with that. Plus a consolation all in before final. 13 races would work if teams agree to it. Or get rid of 11 vs 12 and have two consolations.

Support class needs to be a class with something different not just normal racing, bring back saloon or modified 4x4s, stockcar soccer, don't need big fields that will hurt the track surface, just make it different. Have a few of each non contact classes in the same race so spectators can see the speed difference at race pace. Change it up from the norm but don't over do it with big fields

I hear ya. Over the years there must have been 000s if not 0000s of suggestions put forward on these boards about how to make any given night at speedway better. For the most part they get completely ignored. I'll be p!ssed if the first one ever listened to, thought about and then implemented is making Ministocks a support class at this meeting. 🤣🤣
