Should there be one?
Their experiences on the big stage certainly varied this year. Selecting three, 58k Stefan Roigard lasted as far as T2 Lap 1 before we was deposited up the concrete wall, 99h Todd Hemingway led for about 3 laps before Jack Miers introduced him to reality (upside down), while 72a Cody McKee and 9r Brent Stewart both had weekends to remember.
So should there be a returnable trophy at the end of Night 2 each year for the Rookie of the Teams Champs? It'd be amazing to look back at the names on it in 20 years time, and see how they've progressed on from that original rookie status. I mean, everyone was a rookie once, right?

It's thinking like this that is the reason BarryB will be the minister of good ideas in the first RamJam led government

We were discussing this with our group over the weekend Barry and totally agree.
My 2 standout Rookies were: 72a Cody McKee-after great success at the NZ Champs Cody made an amazing Rookie appearance at this years teams champs. He won all of the All Stars first 3 races & finished the last race against the Panthers in 4th beaten but defeated. Has an extremely good Teams head on him & is super patient in his decision making. Always looking after his car in order to be there at the finish.
9r Brent Stewart - Im positive i read Brent was a Rookie to Palmy Teams this year. He was absolutely brilliant on the second night. The whole team finally gelled as a unit..he drove 2 very smart races in the semi and the final using his team mates to his advantage and looking after his car to get 2 fantastic Wins.

Brent Stewart , sat out 1st race v Stratford , but then played massive roles v Busters then semi and final ,very clever and fast ,able to use the bumper to move cars out of the way without hindering his own momentum.

I've changed my post above. Hadn't realised 9r was a debutant as well. I think (stealing the idea from Indycar here) that the rookie drivers could have an (R) after their name in the programme Barry B

How good was Cody McKee? Watch this as an example. I can't remember which race it was, but exiting T2 the 72a was out wide as an attacker made a move towards him. He stopped and changed direction inwards by about 45 degrees about as quickly as a drift car, and the attacker went sailing past harmlessly. I guess he'd of been left wide open if there was a second opponent, however in this case there wasn't. He may have known that of course. The manoeuvrability he can get out of that car is quite amazing. Barry B

Clever driving indeed. I gather its Cody's 1st full season in Superstocks and hes been a feature attraction at 3 major meetings three meetings thus far.
