To be fair this should be held on a bike track, not a clay track for cars. I know since palmy have registered bikes they are eligible to host a national title, but snz should have some common sense and award these national titles to bike tracks. It’s unfair to competitors and spectators

Correct if I'm wrong but there is only 1 bike track left in the north island & 2 down south? Makes it pretty hard to move island titles around tracks with such low numbers

Makes it pretty hard to move island titles around tracks with such low numbers I couldn’t answer that off the top of my head, but that’s a shame if true. And I highly doubt another will pop up since motorsport facilities are looked down on

Palmy is completely unsuitable for solos. Even with so few bikes entered the track will be compleaty black after it. Any one remember what happens last time the NZ champs were there? Hawkes Bay inner bull ring would count as a bike track and would be a far better option IMHO.

It’s unfair to competitors and spectators The only requirement to host an island titles is to race the class three times. The registered competitor requirement only applies to New Zealand and Grand Prix Titles. SNZ does not control the rules in the sport, the drivers and promoters do. SNZ can not show "common sense". SNZ has to follow the rules set by the drivers and promoters. When the title hosting rules are set I do not imagine the implications for the North Island Solo title are at the forefront of too many minds.

I doubt pn have raced solos 3 times in the last 4 seasons. They don't even run the shownight cup anymore which was the only solos race meet of the season This is not a dig at palmy, but they just don't run the class, and with bloody good reason. You wouldn't see the NZ golf open played at Eden Park, they would play it at a suitable venue.

I thought this thread should of been over in the Sidecars and Solo,s page seen it refers to that catergory ,but then Rammers is like the rest picks and chooses where he wishes to park it ...in the discussion page ,i guess to get his hole in one ....

I do not imagine the implications for the North Island Solo title are at the forefront of too many minds. Hang about and I'll fix it for you... I do not imagine the implications for the North Island Solo bike racing title are at the forefront of too many minds. And here lies the problem. Eyes have been off the ball. Honestly if this was any other class they would lose their national class status in a heartbeat. What future would streetstocks have if they struggled to get double figures to a nz champs. The life support system for the class is only being powered by the history it has.

Rule is race the class at least three times in a season. The season in question would have been the season prior to this years rotation being voted in.

Seven entries for a Nth Island Title is extremely disappointing. If they are paying out down to 10th place then I am seriously thinking of dusting off my old mountain bike and having a run. May even sneak onto the podium if any of the other entrants have bike problems or injuries!

It’s very sad! I remember going to international solo meetings when Western Springs was packed to the gunnels.

Seven entries for a Nth Island Title is extremely disappointing. Actually, the sad part is that 7 quite a good muster for the clas at this point in time

Looks like they made changes to track prep for the solos & ran all their races before the cars. Looked to have a bit of a loose top surface, better racing than I expected
