Skinny Colson probably wished he'd stayed at home this weekend. It started when he blew up his tow wagon on Saturday, and had to borrow a truck to get to Harrisville. Then he blew a steering box during the Sprintcar warmups. He managed to borrow another one and get it fitted, with a few hiccups, and made it out for the second round of heats.
Off the outside of Row One, he got wide through Turns 1/2, and with the car not fully warmed up, was a bit sluggish getting out of the corner. He then got clipped by the 17B car of Mark Alexandra, which sent him into the dirt wall, and over end-for-end; Petrolfumes caught the action:
As disappointed as he was, he kept his promise to come up to the commentary box for a chat, and gave Ramjam and I the best part of half an hour with Skinny while some track repairs were done. What a privilege it was to sit there and listen to this legend of the sport open up, and both Ramjam and I agreed it was an afternoon we'll remember for a long time!
Congratulations on a fantastic 39-year career Skinny; you've been a hero to many, and you're as decent a bloke as anyone in speedway. Big ups also to Mrs Skinny, aka Arlene for your unfailing support. Enjoy the next phase of your life together!

I caught the tumble from my spot on turn 4, might put it up later, but think i might leave it awhile. Was one of the best speedway meetings i've been to. great racing, and i could hear the commentary wihtout my hearing aids - well done.

Wish I could of heard it. But the pa was inaudible. Does anyone monitor this.... If anyone tells us there's a problem, we do what we can to get it sorted. Sometimes it can be, and sometimes it can't. But commentators aren't psychic, and if no one tells us they can't hear us, we work on the basis that everyone can! The speakers in front of the commentary booth were working fine.

Sadly the curtain has fallen on the Sprintcar events which were going to happen ,only one meeting in the saloon is scheduled ,and in the winter months they both will attend a special evening up in the hills of heaven of hardcore folk ..
Now with a cancellation and the midnight oil burning and everything going to plan ,kihiKihi might just be lucky to see the old boy return ..
