The Auckland Mod champs will be run on Sunday April 25, Night 2 of the Superstock Teams meeting (remember folks, Monday is a holiday)
Due to the Covid induced postponements a month or two ago, the King of the Park title for the Mods will also be decided on the same night. The Champs will be the standard three heats for points format and then reverse grids for a one off race to decide the King of the Park, the highest points scorer from the Champs will start off the Back down to the lowest points off the Front.
At this point in time 14 cars have been confirmed. Once I here back from a few others, I’ll post the entry list.
Good support class for this event too, at last notification 11 teams had been confirmed for the Superstocks.

Entries haven't closed yet, may see one or two more added.
The weather in Auckland is not expected to be tropical this week, so there'll be a good moisture base in the track come the weekend. All involved had to work especially hard last Saturday to get the track race worthy but it paid dividends, with times getting faster and faster as the night progressed; Rodney Wood clocking a 13.1 second lap in the feature, just a couple of tenths off the track record.
Heads up, dress warm................ and I mean REALLY warm.

Couple of minor alterations to the list, 59C has had to withdraw and 52H Jordan Hunter comes in for 53H Barry Hunter, which gives us a final field of 15 cars.
The Auckland Champs will be run over three x 12 lap heats with the Front/Middle/Back draw format and then the highest points from those races will be starting off the back in a 20 Lapper for the King of the Park trophy.

71s John Jackson took out the Auckland Champs, giving him a notable double at Waikaraka for the season after winning the Dirt Cup a couple of months back. 1nz Luke Brown, 11a Jamie Fox and 12s Jason Kalin were all tied on points, which required a 3-way run-off. Grid positions for this were decided by marble draw with 11a off 1, 12s off 2 and 1nz unluckily drawing grid 3. Jason won the start but Foxy was able make the pass around the outside of 3 & 4 mid-race to take the win, with Jason holding on for 3rd overall. The only good thing about that for Luke was that put him in front of the others in the reverse grid format for King of the Park and he was able to work his way forward and win that relatively comfortably.

I missed the first half of the KOP expecting it to be a Brad Lane benefit with his close to the front grid position and was surprised to see it wasn't. Well done to Luke and Foxy.
