In a curfew shorten South island sprintcar championship Daniel Thomas was 1st,Sam O'Callahan 2nd,and Jonathan Allard 3rd.The first 2 cars are owned by Freeman Motor sport Nelson.Jonathan Allard drove Jamie Duffs 19c car, and the final was the only race he finished all night after being dogged by mechanicals issues in the heat races.Blenheims Paddy North finished in fourth place.Daniel Thomas set a new one lap track record of 11.1 seconds in the time trials.Stephen Taylor retired in the final with mechanical issues.

Daniel Thomas made it a double at the Milestone homes speedway in Nelson tonight taking out the inaugural Sprint car Sunshine classic.Drama unfolded in the last half lap of the race when race leader Stephen Taylor and second placed Daniel Anderson were taken out after a incident with a lapped car.Thomas in a car owned by Nelsons Kevin Freeman,led home 3 other Nelson cars in 2nd place the ever consistent Alicia Hill,Gregg Teece in the Connor Rangi car 3rd, and Sam O'Callaghan in another Freeman car home in fourth place.Christchurch driver Matthew Leversedge was running in second place up until lap 16 pulling off with a mechanical issue.Daniel Thomas pocketed $3,000 for his win.Around 20 cars lined up for the classic.Three drivers from the North island made up the field remainder from Nelson, Blenheim,Christchurch,Cromwell,Timaru,and Invercargill.
