Beauty, I'm going to Nz Streetstocks in Blenheim on 2nd & 3rd Jan and the Streetstock GP in CHCH which now includes this NZ v Aus deal. I was looking around for a midweek meeting which I've now found. The bonus is its at my fav South Island track. Hopefully they will put on a decent Stockcar event to go with the teams race and they will end up with a swag of Stockcars there to complete with team NZ & team Aus in an individual champs after the teams race. Welly on 2nd jan Blenheim on 3rd Dunedin on 5th Chch on 7th & 8th Sounds like a perfect road trip for any North islanders looking for some teams action and very entertaining Streetstock racing South Island style.

Depends on the format, if it is just one teams race per meeting then it's really not worth the 90-minute drive to Te Marua, if it's three teams races per meeting, then yeah, I will definitely be there. Also, the support classes, production & youth saloons don't exactly get the blood pumping.

I'd go the other way and hope is just one teams race and then a decent Stockcar event on the program that the team cars and others can enter. Otherwise you get to the stupid situation we already get in other classes where there is a good number of cars in the pits and you only you only get 1 race tops with a full field. Sitting thru 3 what is likely to be very 1 sided teams races at the expense of a good Stockcar event would peeve me a bit and prob make me skip the Dunedin leg

On facebook they had a 3 way meeting, Dunedin, vs a new zealand select vs the aussies or something like that. Not sure how many classes they run down there but would be light without streetstocks.

It’s a three test series, here’s the official release from snz
STOCKCAR TEST MATCHES THIS SUMMER
International speedway competition will receive a boost next summer with an official New Zealand Stockcar team set to do battle with Team Australia in January 2022. Fruitful negotiations between the two countries have concluded with three exciting tests scheduled in a six-day period to start the new year.
Wellington Speedway will host the inaugural test on Sunday January 2 and three days later the teams will regroup in the South Island, with Beachlands Speedway hosting a midweek event on January 5 in Dunedin. The grand finale will be at Christchurch’s Woodford Glen Speedway on Saturday January 8, in conjunction with the New Zealand Streetstock Grand Prix.
All licensed Stockcar competitors will be eligible for selection in the New Zealand team, which will be chosen by a selection panel in accordance with Speedway NZ rules. The venues have been chosen to avoid major events at the other end of the country, and also to try and involve the southern Youth Saloons and Australian Junior Sedans in the festivities. The dates work in well for Australians too, avoiding any national title commitments and enabling a short holiday in New Zealand to support their team.
More details will be released in due course, but with over 80 Australian drivers having already expressed an interest in competing for Team Australia in New Zealand, this is an exciting initiative that should benefit speedway on both sides of the Tasman Sea.

So who would you like to see present as the All Blocks? Black Stocks? Team NZ. For me it’s Bruce Harding C Dion Mooney Justin Hutchby Gary Lonergan Keightley Teece Reserve: Luke Miers Representation ranging from across the country as well as the current 1nz team. The top 4 names are legends of the stockcar class and committed servants to their club and team. a few nearing the end of their careers and would be a great honour to cap off their careers. They would also serve as great mentors for their opposition knowing they don’t have to park shot their way to victory Risking injuries to the aussies and risk killing the venture. Just my thought on selection, what’s yours?

Just my thought on selection, what’s yours? picking a team will be harder to pick than a broken nose. With all the teams talent going around the last few years, i dont envy the selectors. the last few teams champs winners alone have so many combinations its almost an impossible task to whittle it down to four and a reserve.

On the assumption that the Aussies will be using NZ cars and not shipping their own over, then if we have 80 Aussies interested and presumably at least as many locals, then why not two teams per country? Perhaps an under-23 title as well as the senior title. Twice as much racing, twice as many drivers getting to participate, all piggybacking on the organisation already done.

New zealand cretia?
Now they will have to name the new zealand team at nationals going forward yay finally I hope. Team of the weekend becomes the new zealand team. Sorry rammers walker I believe doesn't have a stockcar and now has a superstock. Can I interest you in a bay lad instead? One who is epic but Hawkes bay wouldn't pick. Mike mac? Is a dream for this lad.

The NZ team will be made up from drivers of the clubs running the event one would assume.

OK I guess I'd better put Harley Robb in his place then huh. Mike Mac is a top bloke and one of life's good guys as far as I can tell. He among with about 20 others could easily make claims to be considered but as Tapped pointed out its hard to pick just one team. Given the fact the most of the Australian team will most probably never have even seen a teams race in real life, I'm not expecting a competitive series. You could pick pretty much anyone who has teams experience and they will start as favourites against the Aussies.
