With the upcomming change to mylaps can somebody please explain a couple of things to me. Will every track have to put their live lap scoring on line and allow public access? If your following a championship heat, does it give a running total of a cars overall points as the race go on? can you sort a live race buy any column you like? Anyone used it for following a race on their phone o in another motorsprt and how did you find it? I always found speedway live good for following championships even if I was at the track with their live points updates during the race. Many thanks Y'all

Why wouldn't a track want to put lap scoring online? Great resource for drivers and fans alike.
To my knowledge my laps does not give a running points total but then again that isn't a function Western Springs would use! I think you have to do a merge to produce points but could be wrong. Have never tried sorting a live race by anything other than running order.
I used mylaps & the race monitor app extensively when doing the social media for Western Springs and still follow it live on race nights. The delay between the car crossing the start line and the lap registering on your phone is miniscule. I'd say around 0.25 seconds.
For the rare track that had accurate dorian lap scoring, speedway live was good. However, it could not be trusted and gave incorrect points totals on occasion because the underlying lap scoring system did not accurately score laps.

But otherwise thanks for that info percy. The running points total was really handy, I used it several times in commentary during heat three red or yellow lights, altho with skepticism. I can only remember thinking "That's not right" once, and that got fixed before they went green again.

There are more than three not utilising it, although in Baypark's case a few years ago it was because deactivating it helped the system to be a little more accurate. They now run two boxes as their lap scoring setup (three floors up) is so far away from the track surface. I'm not sure whether Speedway Live has been reconnected since. I'm assuming there's nothing out of WP, PN and Meeanee.
I certainly hope MyLpas is able to provide running totals over three heats, including live during the race. Otherwise it'll be back to 1999 and ball point pens and pad paper and 48+19=67 calculating who the top 6 qualifiers are. Super important as a commentary tool is the running total of points, especially with back to back to back heats during qualifying for something like the 2020/21 NZ Stockcar Championship.
One of the few problems I noticed with Speedway Live (although I have not used it much) was not picking up the result of any intervention by the officials. Percy, do you know by any chance whether relegations are then amended on MyLaps?
A couple of tracks at the AGM told me they were changing to MyLaps anyway, at least one as early as this coming season, so I guess the writing was on the wall. It appears customer support will be vastly improved, so overall I think it's a good move by SNZ. On the proviso that it can handle three-heat accumulated points championships.

In karting there is usually a points calculation after each heat and they have 5 heats with the worst heat performance being dropped. I’ve only seen that in the paper copies and the final points that are posted on Mylaps following the event.
I know after the meeting all the details are there - but haven’t seen points table during a meeting online.
Best bet is to look at Speedhive and have a play
From memory when there sis a big meeting they can use “championship” and it updates points in a seperate table
Mylaps will be so much better!

The NZ Schools Karting championship is in Tokoroa this Saturday 17th. Heat races will start approx 9.30am so my suggestion is you download the Speedhive app and have a look see how it all works.

my laps app is really good for following racing, and looking up the past race results during the day,
having used Orbits in motocross (the programme that runs the transponders) I don't know if they can actually live update points, as you award points after you finish the race, although it is something that might able to be added,

Geez I bet you believe Chris Hipkins when he tells us how well the vaccine roll out is going huh. Seriously tho, I'm worried we may have taken something that, for me and the places I used it the most, worked reasonably well and replaced it with something that MIGHT not be fit for purpose. I hope I'm wrong.

Why do some Macgorians assume the worst because they don’t know the answer?
All sorted chaps, stand down
Most Aussie titles are 4 heats over two nights with fastest laps determining Points ties. MyLaps has been sorting it for years
