Interesting to hear todays announcement from the podium of truth that contact tracing will be mandatory at all levels. This includes level 1. The contract tracing encompasses pretty much every public place you go whether an office, court, casino, restaurant, concert etc. The onus is going to be on the business/event organiser to enforce the requirement and comply with the regulation.
I think this is going to be a severe headache for speedway tracks.
Simply putting up QR codes is not going to be enough to comply. Speedway tracks will somehow need to ensure that all patrons are scanning in and for those that do not have smartphones or the app (a reasonable number given speedways older demographic) a manual register will need to be filled out and held.
Clearly this requirement will require extra personnel and perhaps the engagement of a security provider to ensure compliance. For some venues which allow vehicle access it will be interesting. Challenging to ensure a car-load of people are scanned in and what if all four of them need to sign in manually? Are venues going to hold up the line for three minutes whilst everyone in the car writes down their details?
There will always be some nut jobs who, in the full knowledge of contract tracing requirements, choose to turn up and make a scene refusing to scan. How will tracks deal with such dissenters?
First test (assuming we are back in level one) will be practice days. As tracks can not charge for these events, they have typically been very open events. That will have to change with the onus on tracks to ensure everyone onsite can be traced.
Some serious thinking ahead for private promoters and clubs alike

How are electronic bank transactions used in contact tracing? Surely something has been worked out with the banks and Eftpos providers to use those details as past of the contact tracing procedure. Surely it is far easier to get the details that way than trying to decipher a whole lot of scribble on a page?
The other thing to consider is privacy, and the security of the information which has been collected for a specific purpose.
How about whose responsibility is it to make sure the person signing in is giving correct details?
Are ticketing agencies going to require the individual ticket holders name, address and phone # of all ticket holders? If so, would that be considered scanning/signing in. If not, can u imagine how early you will need to get to a major concert or sporting event?
Ohh yeah who will be in charge of telling a promote that "You had 50,000 ppl at the Bruce Springsteen concert but we can only find 49,979 who signed in.
This is all far bigger than speedway of course, but it's just typical of a govt who like to announce good ideas, without actually considering the nuts and bolts of how it'll work in real life.

It will become a shambolic shambles ,nothing has been passed into the law books registry .
The work place for instance ,the bus or train people catch or simply the person in the street ,most comply to some form of compliance and those who dont ,get away with it or are warned by the police .
Most places now you sign in before entering it is a regulation under the terms of osh ,so be no different to speedway tracks on entry ..
I notice you say the podium of truth ,well they simply know where and how it has slipped back in this country and have holes in the fence larger than Mexico and the USA border .

Pretty much when 80 percent of NZ is fully vaccinated everything will be back to normal and it will be another virus we just have to live with.

The trouble with controlling this virus which is totally different to eradication, is misinformation on social media.
Example, GPS tacking devices in the vaccine, another nutter who sent out texts saying he was a person in high authority in the health dept and the nurse who has covid was looking after the infected UN worker and a huge cover up to avoid embarrassment to the Govt. Mr Google, UN worker Middlemore Hospital, nurse AK Hospital.
Due to us wanting freedom and not accepting any type of restrictions even thou it being done for our and future generations well being, scanning or written identification small price to pay to attend any type of entertainment.
The biggest change is mindset.
Mr Google again, under legislation the Director Of Health controls and recommends the actions of covid or any other such pandemic, Govt of day can only act on his/hers recommendations .
Speedway like other venues need scanning queues and manual entry one's.
I'm sure our forefathers who were bundled off to war to give our country a better way of life would turn in their graves to see the way some carry on with their attitude towards controlling the pandemic for the good of current and future generations.
We need to vaccinate, if past generations hadn't vaccinated we would still have Polio, TB, Rubella etc.
As a lecturer in a past life over 50 yrs ago said, he called the flu virus the lock and key disease, always changing combinations, covid same.

So standby on that one. a simple response would be to have a "ballotbox" that all entries go in to immediately upon completion. |

How bloody stupid is that, defeats the whole purpose of the exercise About as good as the time about a month or so back when she said they were considering making masks mandatory for "High risk places like bars & restaurants" I dunno about anyone else, but when I go to a bar or restaurant easy access to the intake valve is reasonably important. A face mask is as useful as a handbrake on a canoe. |

I think speedway would be easier than a heap of other sports, all spectators go through a turnstile and pay for a ticket, giving a point of entry, even the pit gate is usually done this way,
I think a bigger threat to the start of the season is if we are down to level 1,
now imagine no ticketed sports events, local rugby clubs that have multi points of access with no gates,
nice and easy for the government to say, pretty hard for anyone to actually enforce,

Naki fans 70 years ago being vaccinated for the chronic diseases wasnt compulsory ,but was recommended by the local Gp of the day .,being a school boy ... The freedom of traverl was certainly not a option as it is today ,the horse and cart took a little longer to go from Auckland via the Naki for blue vien cheese then off to Wellington .. You can vaccinate 3000 sheep for worms and liver fluke ,but some dont recover ,coughing and spluttering as they do like a smoker trying to give up his or her cigarettes because they have cancer. Preventative measures are a common theme, just take into account how freedom was to us all before this new wave of the virus hit ,oh and another point why do we in the north seem to get off lightly ..  |

They looked at this but times aren't always accurate - even some of the entries on my bank statements are the Monday after I've got stuff on a Saturday. |

Similar to wearing a seatbelt in a car, it might not stop you getting injured but it will make that injury far less severe and could make a life threatening situation just an injury. You don't drive down the road without a seatbelt on (if you do you are a moron) |

we now have to scan the covid app at work every day even though we have to use an electronic key card to enter the building and use a biometric scanner time clock to clock in and out.

Meh; just open the borders and be done with it in 6 months until becomes endemic.
The WWII hero generation minus some tiny percent have all passed; Trying to save the current oldies is destroying our freedoms, economy and kids long term future. Open it now while we still have a chance to remain competitive; nature will take its unfortunate path, but it will save the country tens if not hundreds of billions over the coming decades in pension and healthcare costs.
