I too wonder how they got to be classed as essential workers. This would appear to be as bad as the travel they undertook.

Hope the couple who fled to Wanaka to have a skiing holiday don't use their wealth and influence to convince the high court for long term name suppression after their 24 hr reprieve is up. They used the covid travel document to get thru the border in a calculated way, also went while negative swab not a requirement so their chance of spreading the virus to Waikato, people on the plane, Queenstown and Wanaka greatly increased. All the people who have been forced to make sacrifices financially and mentally will be disillusioned if these privileged people can blatantly and in such a calculated way break the law and hide behind it because they can buy their way out of it. If they don't name and shame these folk how will you detour others from doing the same. In the past a public flogging or stoning would take place against these law breakers. Perhaps we need to turn the clock back to go forward. I'm sure by now you will have seen that extended name suppression has been granted as expected . If the occupations are as listed in other replies I don't understand how they are able to claim to be essential workers that needed to cross through the checkpoint in the same vehicle How did you get that so wrong? From main stream print media William Willis, Director of Karaka [ Papakura ] based Matawhio Sports Horses Ltd Hannah Rawnsley, a family and criminal lawyer for Roddie Sim in Pukekohe
His mother is District Court Judge Mary-Beth Sharp
True to his occupation, he is a show pony Apology, crocodile tears we so sorry to all of Aotearoa and Wanaka for what we did Translated, we pissed off that some nark filled out online covid form to MBIE and exposed us as privileged prats who carefully plotted a scheme to escape lockdown and indulge ourselves in a skiing weekend in our Wanaka batch We now have to make out we concerned about all your welfare when we really are only concerned about our own. Shame on you nark, we will now have a criminal record and tarnished reputation.

But the good news is, Rawnsley is being looked at by the Lawyers society for using the exemption incorrectly. "bringing the profession into disrepute"

"protect them from a social media mob, in part, because of the potential hardship caused by the pernicious, judgmental, exponential, indelible and often ill-informed publication on social media platforms".

if they charge them, and they go to court a small fine and a slap on the dick with a wet bus ticket is all that will happen,30 days in jail is fitting, they only care about themselves not the country and the people doing it hard, cause they have the money to see them through these times,

It won't, but would be nice. She's not a happy camper.

Another man went to buy a boat and crossed the level 4 borders for that important reason, really these people think that these rules are not for them only for others, how arrogant some people are, and if they spread covid all they would say is sorry, then Auckland stays in lockdown for more weeks, words fail me about these people and their selfish beliefs

Lock them all up. Minimum one month or until all of NZ is in level 1, whichever is the latter.

Can't see there being any point in rushing, there won't be any actual racing until most, or probably all of NZ is back in Level 1 (or whatever passes as the new Level 1). Don't expect that to be much before the end of November.
Spare a thought for all those still waiting for their parts to arrive. The container we were expecting at the end of August leaves the USA in about another week. A local supplier has informed me the delivery that he expected now is still more than a month away, could be a lot of cars sitting on stands in sheds for a while yet.

One positive to come out of todays briefing is the increase from 50 to 100 for indoor gatherings, which could mean the limits for outdoor events could also be increased.

And those fortunate enough to have parts are having trouble getting into machine shops, backlog due to lock down and border closures, and come back at xmas seems the norm. Others caught up living outside border boundary and like skiing { Wanaka and Ruhapehu} McDonald's and buying a boat, taking your race motor to machine shop won't get you an essential service travel document.

one thing could be an issue under spectators "no intermingling shared areas or facilities (i.e. toilets)" Can a event happen without toilets? Also seems that they will need to have seating areas in small clusters. They really need to have allocated seating for that, and you go to your seat and stay there until you leave. Would need to pre purchase ticket for your preferred seat
