The two Dudes coming to NZ next month did well last night at Eastern Creek with 99n Jamie Veal winning the Sprintcar Feature and 7n Robbie Farr coming home in 3rd place behind 2nd place 55n Jessie Attard, Jamie also won the Grand Opening Feature a couple of weeks ago,was good to see they had fine weather last night after a bad run of rain outs๐

Just read that the Eastern Creek Speedway has closed and there will be no racing there this summer
What a debacle so close after opening

Went the same way as I would have imagined the Colin Dale Park deal would have if they had moved Western Springs as they proposed. Cost grossly underestimated, covid delayed and trouble getting the average punter there before you throw in an average promotor that sounds like they had....

Straight talking alright.
Very sad. And what sounds like a complete waste of money.
Send over the Baypark Team. Be humming in no time.

Apparently the NSW government not happy with the on going issues with the track at the moment, water drainage etc and the promoters not happy with the new lease contract and have pulled out, hopefully things will be sorted in due time, would be a shame if it ended up just sitting rusting away, very sad.

Some straight talking on what went wrong (language warning) In the manner of which he spoke ,was a little disrespectful to those who follow speedway ,regardless of the issues that do occur ..

I'd have to agree, Midway. Doesn't do a lot for the public perception of speedway followers...

To be fair, he seems to be speaking the truth and seems knowledgeable in relation to the situation.
This relates to tracks and promotors in this country aswell.
You cannot continue to ask for better racing facilities and then have amateur or club based promotors running the operation who don't have expertise in event promotion.
Event promotion is big business these days from farmers markets to outdoor music festivals.
A large part of event promotion these days is using social media platforms via sharing (the old word or mouth) to pass on information and to attract interest in whats being promoted.
Get professional experienced event promotors to run the event (the show) and allow experienced speedway people to focus on track prep, safety and dealing directly with the competitors.
If you look at New Zealand's most successful event Rhythm and Vines, the promotion has a number of different people involved with experience in different areas of event management.
