For the first five races I thought Videohub might have finally learned something. The coverage was decent and the racing very watchable.
I don't know what happened during the delay. All of a sudden the stream started glitching repeatedly. The director chopped more and more. The camerawork got worse and worse to the point that by the final couple of races the stream was almost unwatchable.
Just when you think they've turned the corner Videohub reverts back to form. They need to simplify their operation, not add more complexity like drone cameras.

I have to agree the stream went from average to really bad after the break, that drone footage was terrible to watch and was really dark Leave the drone in the box and concentrate on bette camera work and sound quality

I'm loath to criticise in these times where I'm so thankful for some sort of normality but gee the live stream tonight was hard work. Now that there is a comparison (Pits TV), this product I watched tonight is inferior. Does the Videohub team not do test runs for sound quality and connection issues? Do the various commentators not do test runs to work together? Just an all round amateur performance but guess what? There is however nothing we can do about it - it's Video Hub ($50) or nothing. Yep, the whole production was quite substandard. The only saving grace was it kept working and we saw most of the major incidents. Better than nothing, just. The pictures actually went well all night - except for the glitchy replays, of course. Although even worse was the best crash of the night (9G vs 272M) where we got NO replays at all, while we got endless replays (from various camera angles) of the 5G 'almost roll' in the same race. Weird. We know they caught it perfectly, as we saw it happen live. Thank goodness for GH and his still-photo sequence so we can have a second look. The Grand Parade interviews were a waste of time with every roving mic tried (at least 3?) failing, and we even lost the Pit Camera for a few races. New batteries in Mike's roving mic in the pits made that work better. Don't they put new batteries in everything at the start of each night, especially at the big shows? And the lack of official results was a tad annoying too, and MyLaps (which I must admit, is not [yet] up to what we do here in New Zealand with Superstocks and Stockcars) and pieces of paper handed in given the blame. The problem reared it's head in the first half of the meeting, and we still didn't have some of the results when the commentary team signed off. Either the back room team needs to get onto this like they do at other tracks and deliver these updated results to the commentators, OR one of the many micmen need to take one for the team and go and get them. The direct contact with the referees box didn't seem to achieve the desired result as far as information flow went either. So it started badly, picked up for awhile but, as others have asked; what happened after the break? Maybe I'm just grumpy because I'm not there this year, but that really was a hard watch when you started at 5pm. EDIT; dump the drone coverage, at least until you can get the basics right. Barry B

Was the first time I've live streamed the ENZED Teams Champs tonight, seemed like a lot of camera angles to me. I think the drone has some cool potential but needs to be used quite sparingly, otherwise I think it becomes a bit like a gimmich and wears off pretty quick. Obviously the drone picture quality and the roving mic problems need to be fixed although talking beside an engine running will always be hard, some great intervews otherwise. A great close first night of racing, was good to watch it with my wife for once (worked out only 25 bucks each). Looking forward to the finals stream, hope they interview Wingnut.

50 bucks. Miss the days of watching it free. When mum and dad paid for you to get in? Or half as a s s e d phone footage free through Facebook? Pay the promoter and pay the drivers. Especially though these tough times I had two options like tonight. Not watch it cause I can't afford or watch it for free. Some people are unfortunately pay check to paycheck.

the drone has potential, but was very awkward last night. the callers last night were average, Stu uses many nicknames and other jargon that confuse/annoy me. no idea on everyones nicknames, and wtf is a 'tubing'? infield guy and stu trying to call a race by calling the action at the opposite end of the track - neither of which matched what saw on the stream. mike did well in the pits but equipment issues let the side down. i know track announces call the race as they see it, which is often different to the whats on the stream. So, is it time for a dedicated comms team? i know money and capacity issue exist, but no harm in asking the question, as more and more choose to stream.

If they only talked about what was showing on the stream we'd be left wondering about what we weren't watching. Pretty much agree with your other comments though.

The nicknames can be very annoying to us older folk (and non Facebook users), although - to be fair - Stu did often use their real name and nickname together last night so as to help with that, but overall I, personally, just feel it's rather unnecessary. In saying that, back in the day, Stratford Super Saloon heroes like Dave "Blondie" Chamberlain, Graeme "Skinny" Colson and Allan "King" George were known universally by their nicknames. I'm assuming "a tubing" is the North Island equivalent of what we heard at a Cromwell Superstock event many years ago, where it was either being "served up the dukka" or "a chocolate shot". Arguably not in the greatest taste at Cromwell or Palmerston North Back in the days of the ark, and Speedbox, they did use a dedicated race-caller for Palmy Teams live stream, Paul Hickey calling off a screen with one eye out the window in case anything major happened off-screen which could help in getting a camera turned towards that action. Yep nicknames were my bad even Barry gave me a pep last year about that. I think Lofty & Randy T were used unsure of others but same time what is prefered... car number, last name, full name or last name with numbers?
The slang... well a tubbing yeh a good hit up the rear... I probably used others but I guess thats just me, a different style from past generations of commentators before me. Just like rugby commentators being so different, eg Justin Marshall 🤣.
Result wise I get people walk in during a race, hand a peice of paper some squiggled some not and thats that, which I then try work out if its official on the run. Then the ammendments did not state if they were the new ammended result as the old dorian printouts use to have the relegations etc at the bottom of the page. The Chch v Panther race I was basicly handed two papers at the same time with different results and both signed but no futher info.
Audio & Video is beyond my roll we have a sound opp on hand for teams so we can focus on our rolls.
This teams was just a weird one full stop even going into it just didnt feel the same. So bring on Feb and I'll happily deliver the goods on my part!

Surnames unless it's really well known like Blondie or Skinny I guess. Full names when theres more than one Rees in the same race lol. Slang is all good as spectators will soon catch on to what your style. A hard job that not everyone can do, keep it up.

I hate drones with a passion. Should never ever be used during a contact race teams or individual. Grinding up victory lap. Perfect use of the drone. Even under a red light prefect. Have a time and place. Never under green flag please stay away in contact grades at least has nothing to add and takes away alot.

So bring on Feb and I'll happily deliver the goods on my part! I know what you're saying about the MyLaps Stu. All points at the World 240's at Rotorua this year were done using blank pieces of paper, a ballpoint pen and good old fashioned maths. That's how we did it 25 years ago, but didn't expect to be doing it again in 2022. At the Huntly Teams (where you worked for The Pits Media) we had the Dorian System upstairs, which gave us much more of the information we all needed. MyLaps needs work before it's fit for purpose under our conditions. The actual screen display with MyLaps is better than the Dorian system, and has some good options, but one cannot obtain much of the most important information that one needs, through MyLaps, to keep the public accurately informed. .
