Just following on from my last post, anyone know why Arapere now racing for Wellington? Just curious. Was Canterbury last season and we will miss him down here in Chch. Think he raced ministocks in Wellington in past so appears he's returning back home? Same as Ben Ellis - had a K on his car last season now a W. Well done Wellington and certainly adds some spice to the Teams meeting in Huntly.

I believe Sheldons late father Tama raced at Wellington for many years and Sheldon decided to honor his fathers memory by signing up here, so long as he could race the 9W as his dad had done. Needless to say Wellington Speedway as well as the previous 9W registered driver agreed, so it's a huge welcome to Sheldon by this Wellywood stockcars fanatic.

At my age, keeping any knowledge I may accidentally gain inside of my old head is the bigger problem. I haven't checked the SNZ rule book yet, but having a driver AND a navigator in a car during a teams race would have to be illegal wouldn't it? I mean, they banned hand signals from managers on the infield years ago Barry B

BB, because the knowledge will be inside of your head, can you recall why they banned hand signals from the managers? Just curious is all, we can still signal quite effectively in the open wheel ranks.

Just curious is all, we can still signal quite effectively in the open wheel ranks. Because during red lights in teams races managers were signalling to their drivers which opposition car was leading and who needed to be taken out etc. Or not even waiting for a red light sometimes. A block car would drive onto the infield next to the appropriate person (no such thing as 'seeking' sanctuary back then, and more people allowed on the infield) who would hold up so many fingers, or just point, and the parked up driver would rejoin the race and know what needed doing. Barry B Maybe why Young Guns have named 16 drivers, five in cars on race track and the rest strategically postioned around the track to point out race leader???
