Make it alcohol free and watch it suffer the same fate as the Wellington 7s. Illogical conclusion there mudman, too much mud blurring your vision there! How ridiculous to suggest that the only reason teams champs survives is because of access to booze! So insignificant is the minority of drinkers at this event that I hold firm to the opinion alcohol should be banned altogether Keep your alcoholism at home, surely for a few hours you can stay dry can't you??? A lot of smokers manage to control themselves, why can't the boozers? There’s a significant difference between uncontrollable alcoholism and enjoy a drink with friends while watching racing. I for one can control my drinking being sober at 99% of the meetings I attend. There will always be aggressive and painful drunks to suffer through but there is aggressive and painful sober people to suffer through as well. My first time on the embankment after a decade in the grandstand I was sat near some very abusive sober Stratford supports to the point that security had to get involved. Never encountered such behaviour in my particular section of the grandstand I had previously frequented. End of the day I don’t believe it’s the alcohol that’s exclusively responsible for an unsavoury experience. Abusive people exist regardless of alcohol consumption. The worst for me is people who don’t know the rules yelling at the in field staff about a rule they don’t understand. Can we ban them too?

I've been to pretty much every teams champs ever run, as a palmy local that travels to all four corners for our sport..I love to drink hard out at most meetings I attend, for the first night..bit older now so I have a sober night 2nd up usually but that's cause I travel with a group everywhere generally and we all do.i can handle my nuts tho and do see lots of stuff go down.. Honestly never a prob in rotorua,(people drink the same) huntly teams, prett much all nz champs...prob with palmy is it over sells, seats are so close your jammed in like sardines and it just makes the problem more in your face... My daughter has to sit on my lap because of no prams or car seats etc, do I not bring her? Cause it might upset someone if she crys untill mum pulls her breast out so she can have a drink? It might, who knows.. Most will drink just as much on huntly for the nzs and the teams but you won't see it cause you on the bank, hell they drag couches into some venues there's plenty of room etc... Love my sport and love my beer, if your not an egg about it it shouldn't be a problem... Can't wait for this weekend.. Up the P

Although people over-indulging in alcohol and creating nuisances of themselves can be a problem, especially in the grandstand, where the seating is very close together, the thing that has put me off attending the Teams Champs is the way people stand up whenever anything exciting happens and remain standing thus blocking the view of the people sitting behind them. I understand that in their excitement people may jump up as a reflex action, but when they then remain standing it means that the people behind them can't even see the replays of the action they missed on the big screen. The time for standing and stretching your legs is between races not during them. This sort of behaviour has become so much more prevalent over the last 4-5yrs that we finally decided to save our money rather than pay a premium to see other people's backsides rather than the action. If you do get carried away and leap to your feet, try to remember that there are other people sitting behind you who have paid just as much as you have to see the racing and please sit down straight away.

We haven't had any inconsiderate idiots remain standing in front of us during a race luckily (Block J) but really feel for people like you who have had to deal with those brainless pricks with an IQ in the single digits - especially at the biggest speedway meeting of the year! We were sitting half-way down the bank at Meeanee Speedway with low chairs a few years ago and some prick with a massive chair decided to set up right in front of us - the guy ended up pissing off to the grandstand while telling us to "bite your arse" after my mother finished with the muppet
