I have a question... Baypark, Great Britain and Auckland don't face a seeded team in any of their races. But Wellington face seeded teams in both their races. Something seems like it's not quite right there?
I know with the number of teams there will always be one or two who don't face a seeded team, but don't recall one team having to race seeded teams in both races before?

Tough draws for Mustangs & Wildcats, both teams drew seeded teams for both of their races!!!!!

Some unseeded teams race no seeded teams, while others race 2 🤯.

I’ve never been a fan of anymore than 12 teams, 4 groups of 3 with a seeded team is fairest. Plus with this format the racing will be a little tamer as it’s all about points.

Imagine the 2 unseeded teams of for example welly and palmy, they both need as many points as possible as a win by itself won’t cut it, I know which I’d rather be as 1 faces 2 seeded teams and the other faces 2 unseeded.

Maybe luck of the draw 🤔, as they say, the odds of winning lotto are astronmically high, but most weeks someone does win 😂

14 teams, even with 4 groups, 2x3 and 2x4 team groups. You’ll still find that a 1 unseeded team in each 4 team group will still not have to race a seeded team. Unless they all race 3 races each in those bigger groups, but I’m not sure teams will want more races night 1 in the same time period.

And what happens, in a group of 3 where they all race each other and score 1 win and 1 loss each? It's not rocket science to know that happens every year where there are groups?

Yes, there is a way of making the draw fairer between who meets who with seeded vs non-seeded teams, where 8 of the 10 non-seeded teams meets 1 x seeded team and 1 x non-seeded team on Night 1 (and this is always the first 4 races and the last 4 races of the night, giving the seeded teams the biggest break between races), and the other two teams face two non-seeded teams within the six races (R5 to 10 when you've got 14 teams). This is possibly about as close and as fair as you can get it, teams 1-4 being the 4 seeds teams 5-14 being the 10 non-seeded teams.

I can't understand how you wouldn't support 4 groups of 3 teams = 12 teams, but you would support uneven groups (2 x 3 teams and 2 x 4 teams)

Yeah it's a hard 1 the way the draw is atm is its a min 5 race gap between all races some have 6 or 7 race gap and to win the championship you have to beat the best so I think I'd prefer the longer gap between races

As I think abit differently having 12 teams means some get to miss out who are are to decided who does? Where does that leave Tigers? I don't support 12 teams because there isn't 12 teams to support. No matter how many teams I believe there should be in 4 groups. You get problems when you get up to 17. That's a problem. 4 groups for me will work with 12 13 14 or 15 teams.16 is along way away I still feel.

Another variation of Barry's draw which avoids the big gap between races for the seeded teams (which is a huge advantage) is:

Minimum gap for any team is 5 which is better than only 3. Team 7 and 3 are the lucky ones and dont have to face a seeded team.

With 13 or 14 teams is it time to make 5th place team a seeded team. So there is something on the line for the 5th and 6th race. If they not willing to run 4 groups. I mean that makes way more sense.
