I'd like to see the more even spread too Graeme. I did my format based around the earlier PN thinking which used to have the top 4 up first, and last, and made as simple as possible to show it is possible to draw a fair result. Once you have the seeds separated and the non-seeds in the right places, you can juggle the numbers and/or order to make the gaps more fair. And yes, to do that the seeds will no longer be 1, 2, 3, 4. It spreads out the seeded races too, and 14 would be the Panthers so the race last Barry B

I can't understand how you wouldn't support 4 groups of 3 teams = 12 teams, but you would support uneven groups (2 x 3 teams and 2 x 4 teams) Barry B As I think abit differently having 12 teams means some get to miss out who are are to decided who does? Where does that leave Tigers? I don't support 12 teams because there isn't 12 teams to support. No matter how many teams I believe there should be in 4 groups. You get problems when you get up to 17. That's a problem. 4 groups for me will work with 12 13 14 or 15 teams.16 is along way away I still feel. I don't think you need to worry about 17. We're more likely to be back to 12 teams than getting up to 15 or 16. I suspect we're right on the limit at 14, as while car numbers are up right now i do wonder where this country, or the world for that matter, might be in a couple of years time. I hope I'm wrong, but i can see a number of tracks struggling to get enough drivers willing to teams race. Willing drivers could become a bigger problem than available cars. Time will tell. Barry B

Barry B I agree with that, also the more teams you include the more the risk becomes that the teams become weaker. When racing for points to qualify, being able to score potentially 185 points is huge. Could be as many as 6 teams getting 2 wins this year, I feel sorry for any team who misses out on the semis after winning twice.

16 teams would be straight knockout with the losing quarter finalists facing each other and the next eight being split into two groups with the winners receiving seeded entries ( top eight). This will mean just team racing for both nights(if we ever had 16 Nelson and bay of plenty/east coast). Back to the draw, if you pulled a seeded team the teams that did not draw a seeded team go into the bucket to be drawn out. I do like Barry’s suggestion in terms of how to avoid a team having to face two seeded team. By the way what’s the probability of Auckland, hawkesbay, and the two palmy teams not facing each other hint hint.
