There are pictures about of the flooding at Western Springs Stadium.
Hopefully no damage to the electronics. I assume the timing wiring would be pretty water proof as would get a tonne of water dumped on it anyway.
At least the dirt in the stands will be washed away.
The Clubrooms probably damaged and also possibly the toilets above turn one

The Clubrooms probably damaged and also possibly the toilets above turn one The timing router/server box was located in a metal enclosure on the ground directly behind the catch fence in turn three last I knew (several seasons back), unless it has been relocated into the tower I would have to assume it's still in the same enclosure. And before you ask yes, it did occasionally fill up and give up the ghost.

All that rain around no Rainout dates for next couple meetings be interesting say the least. been one the worst season for weather. this unfortunately was predicted by met office in October. Auckland and north island could expect wet summer, looks as tho for change got it right.
Only 4 meetings left 2 actually with Rainout wonder is chance extension to season only had 5 meetings in total.

Have just done a drive by.
Omg they have alot of work to do. Can't get anywhere near the place security blocking entrance to road. I walked up the road. Deffantly be no parking in the field as wet and still loads of concert gear every where. Main stage is still up in the stadium on the infield. Apparently they need a crane to lift the top off and are worried about the pits concrete been undermined from all the rain. A Geotechnical guy has been to have a look.
Pits toilet block has been water blastered.
Pits still got loads of gear in it. Portacoms, big lights and fencing etc.
I think Springs needs a season extention. Right off February and push dates out.
I feel for John and the team. Gutted.

If there happens be no more racing Western Springs for this season what happens the two vacant snz titles still up for grabs on Feb 11th ?
Next season looks as though Springs host NZ Sprintcar Champs, NZ Midgets Gp, North Island tqs.

Unfortunately do i say it ,the dodgem park maybe the benefit of them perhaps sadly Mind you it would certainly liven the place up and Greame Howe would get a better understanding on king chassis and how they work ..

STADIUM UPDATE:
We currently have restricted access to Western Springs stadium while a series of assessments are carried out to establish what land damage may have been caused during the recent flooding episode and also what damage may have been caused to the power network in the stadium. We will receive the first of these reports early next week.
However in the interim we cannot access the stadium to begin reinstating our Speedway infrastructure and the concert promoters cannot remove all the equipment that was in place for the Laneway Festival, meaning that we have no alternative but to cancel our next race meeting scheduled for Saturday February 11th.
As you can imagine after having been impacted by 2 years of Covid restrictions this latest set back comes as a hammer blow to us, and something that would be avoided if at all possible.
Anyone who lives in Auckland will be well aware of the devastation that the recent flooding has caused. While we are hugely disappointed, we also know that we are not alone in dealing with these issues and that there are many others suffering greater hardship than us.
In the meantime let’s all enjoy some Speedway from other parts of the country over this long weekend and look forward to better news next week.
Cheers, John

I'm not surprised to read this after what I seen yesterday afternoon there.
Western Springs is in a sad state. Out of John and the teams hands until they can gain access.
Gutted for us Fans, the drivers and car owners. And The Springs team.

On his Facebook page, Jamie Fox says Mods at the Springs have been canned on the 18th, and word going round is that the track is out for months
“Mods at Western Springs on Feb 18th officially called off. Lost track how many years in a row we have been scheduled for a skid there now and it is yet to happen! Word around the traps is that the Springs will be out of action as a racing venue for months not weeks so I am pretty sure that not only sinks our chances of running there, it also scuttles any hope of any more racing there for the rest of this season for everyone. The Springs faithful may need to eat humble pie and come cap in hand to their poor cousins across town at Waikaraka to try and get some meetings run for their classes. Would be a big ask given how weather impacted the season has been and how grumpy some ASSCC classes might be if they start missing out on race nights to accommodate classes from across town. Watch this space!
At least mods running at the springs is an event that we don't need for our bucket list of things to do before we pull the pin as we have already ticked it off. We ran there the only time the mods ran there in the 1990's as an invited class and I think we ran 2nd on the night to Roger Bertram. If we don't get back at least we can say we did run there! Ha!
A bit of horse trading going on with multiple parties about what now happens with both the Dirt Cup and the Feb 18th date that has now become available. I expect official announcements pertaining to both subjects to be made sooner rather than later. Hopefully common sense prevails by all involved and some good news is forthcoming.
Team loading mod tonight to head off to Wellington in the morning for a leisurely cruise down the line. 18 cars entered now so biggest field we will have run in this entire disjointed season, like lost I imagine we still feel massively under done but we really looking forward to blowing off the cobwebs and giving our first SNZ meeting of the season a good nudge.
See you in the Hutt!”

Its sad that Springs season maybe over (not saying it is) but if it is Baypark could benefit out of it all and have some good nights racing with full field of sprintcars and midgets add an extra class to support and be big night racing. better place to eat pie to.. at baypark that is .
