Deffantly worth another trip down. Track has been outstanding. They certainly know how to run a meeting.

Looked at this meeting and a few things stopped me making the trek. 3 classes only, maybe 12 events? Time trials, 2 dashes, semi main and feature for midgets. 3 heats plus feature for sprintcars plus 2 heats and feature for F2s. Means I see the top guys racing twice plus some hot laps ie time trials
Traffic jam to get in with all the roadworks then once inside I cant sit where I have in the past (understand why they have done what they have doesn't mean I have to like it)
Hope the night goes well

Yes Hunnibell got 3rd great to see he's coming into some form of late since podium At North island champs.

Brad Mosen is certainly on form. Got some great gear under him.
One to watch for me is Aaron Hodgson. Was unlucky last night. When the 3 of them were up front last night. I thought here we go, this is going to be great tussle.
I certainly wouldn't rule out Michael Pickens.

Appears Pickens forgot about the prizegiving and podium in the club rooms afterwards. D

I heard to day they changed a rear tyre for a softer compound ,it worked well then caused a problem with to much heat build up and the blow off valves werent adjusted right .. I guess if you dont try these things you never know and on a track like baypark it certainly can make a difference ...

D When you are tired and buggered after your last race often you just like to pack up and go home ,simply because prize giving takes for ever in the clubrooms and drinks etc ..Often we got called all sorts of names etc ,but the budget on fuel and mileage tax was the price you would pay for drinks and food ..30,000K/MS a season for the super saloon and the little man to put on a show ..

I am the first to admit that I have not watched a lot of live stream speedway but I have watched a lot of streamed entertainment and of course other televised sport. In my opinion, with the technology available today, live stream sport and televised sport should be of similar quality with perhaps only reduced camera numbers. In my previous post on this site I declared I am in the entertainment business and have been my whole working life, promoting predominantly concerts, festivals tours etc. A few months ago on a Saturday afternoon on TV3 I saw some super saloon racing from Bay Park. This was perhaps the worst advertising for speedway, in particular super saloons that you could possibly have produced. An empty stadium a long shot through a dust cloud of a handful of cars and an over excited amateur commentator declaring what I was watching was amazing. Really, if that was amazing, don’t give me average. Fast forward to last Saturday night. A rare Saturday off so I tune in for some speedway from Bay Park. With nothing looking like running in Auckland again this year this was as close to the real thing as I am going to get. What I got to see was not even up to a standard that I would expect from Mum and Dad filming their kids Saturday sport. Constant equipment failure, the poor pit reporter repeatedly being made to look a fool, the commentary not matching the pictures I was watching, long silences leaving me wondering if they had gone off air and once again all filmed in an empty stadium with the same excitable commentator telling me this is as good as it gets. Yes, the actual racing was good but the broadcast not good enough to have me ever suffer watching another live stream of this quality. If this was rugby, football, tennis, sailing etc it wouldn’t be acceptable, why should it be acceptable for speedway? If speedway wants to be taken seriously then someone, maybe the governing body needs to impose some standards over what and how speedway is broadcast. What I saw last Saturday on the live stream and previously on TV3 did nothing to entice me back or encourage me to pack up the family and head to the speedway. In fact, it had quite the opposite effect. Allowing such a sub-standard product to be broadcast will hurt all speedway tracks. Crowds bring crowds, no-one ever chooses to eat at the empty restaurant, the fruit shop puts the best fruit on display, the butcher puts his best meat in the shop window. Showcasing an empty stadium then telling me how incredible it is won’t fill this stadium or any other. Hugh
