The guy interviewing the drivers doesn't know the difference between champion and championship.
Making a fool of himself over and over

5.30pm and no one at Huntly Speedway. Well less than 100 anyway We had accommodation booked etc, but cancelled. Didnt trust the weather for tonight. $200 motel + $200 fuel + $100 food etc makes for an expensive day sitting in Hamilton watching the rain! Live stream instead!

Can sort of understand a poor crowd, although maybe not that bad.
3rd two day meeting at same track (although teams was run as one) in as many weeks. Dollars and interest only go so far. Mods arguably the class with the less spectator appeal of the three consecutive weekends Average, at best, weather forecast. Work day. Even for locals in can be an effort to get their on time after a work day. Car numbers in qually heats. I think 10 is a tad low, in my opinion, to attract spectator numbers.
Here's hoping for a better crowd and great racing tomorrow.

Meeting has been rained out. Interestingly they are going to start at 5pm tomorrow and run the full two night format in one night. I assume because they had already got one heat race in tonight. This is a meeting I normally wouldn't miss. But the weather has been so patchy this season that I didn't want to waste flights plus accommodation on more of the wet stuff. At least this way I'm only out $35 for the livestream. Hilariously I mistimed walking the dog and actually missed the one Modified race that was run

If I commented I'd have to ban myself for a month.
This is the worst season in living memory.

Half 8 and only one heat race? Rained during race 4 plus there was some extended grader time between races after earlier showers when it proved too wet for the Ministocks, plus then some visiting Mods had a practice session. Second Mod heat was lined up when the heavens opened. Next the drivers met to discuss alternatives. The club had prepared an alternate format with larger groups and less heat races starting at 6pm, but the drivers opted to count the one heat race completed and run the rest of the program in it's entirety (with 10 car heats) starting at 5pm. At least the weather forecast is promising tomorrow. Sounds like a late night. Hopefully the Modified racing will be exceptional and make it all worthwhile. There's certainly some talent there, and if they can get an outside lane working there's more than one driver who would try and exploit that.

So the plan is to run 14 heat races, 2x B-Mains and the Title race in one night (plus turnaround time) and they're only starting at 5pm?
I wish them the best of luck

Seems Huntly tried what they could. Glad the club did canvas the drivers to see what they wanted. Obviously 10 car heats is in their favour to let the cream rise to the top (hate that phrase ) As a spectator I would have opted for the later start more car numbers per race. As you say tomorrow should not be an issue.

I wish them the best of luck Not sure if it has anything to do with staging events in the boondocks of Huntly. From the events I have attended, there seems to be no urgency to run these meetings efficiently. Tracks with no curfew/time constraints seem to have championship meets that roll out to 11pm plus. Not the family sport that speedway is proposed to be.

So the plan is to run 14 heat races, 2x B-Mains and the Title race in one night (plus turnaround time) and they're only starting at 5pm? I wish them the best of luck Let me just fact-check that Percy. Ummmmm, 15-1=14, yep, a total of 14 x 12-lap heat races are still to be raced, then two of those last-chance thingies, and ummmmm, yep, one of those 30 lap feature thingies, soooo yep, that's about right. They were originally starting at 6pm tomorrow night anyway, so now with starting at 5pm, so long as they get the remaining 8 Modified heats left over from tonight done within the first 60 minutes tomorrow, they'll be back on track time-wise and all will be sweet Seriously though, I'm not sure what will happen with all the support classes. There was 21 races scheduled tonight (of which 9 were for the Mods) and only 4 got held. Or 3.5. The Production Saloons were under a red light when the rains hit, which was probably a good thing because the rain got very heavy very fast. So I imagine some of those supports from tonight and tomorrow night might get dropped, but as you say, there are still 17 Modified races to go and there has to be turnaround time between the rounds. It's effectively two-nights in one, with only 1 hour added to the meeting time. The advantage of starting at 5pm (as opposed to 2pm or 3pm) is that there won't be too much day time racing, which does often see a lot of time wasted with needless single car spins. Hopefully all of the non-contact classes behave themselves and time between races is kept to a minimum. I'm still looking forward to it, but think I'll take an extra box of water bottles, especially as I'm on the mic by myself for the first hour or two of the evening (and this is the third huge weekend in a row). We had three, which dropped to two before the weekend when Paul Hickey became unavailable, then now down to one due to the early start time. It should be illegal for people to have to work on speedway days Barry B
