Well done to all place getters of course, but rapt to see 17w pick up 2nz. Awesome for Jonas. Even since his ministock days, always taken pride in the presentation of his car and team. Gives it 100% and win or lose is always a good sport.

Well done Huntly From watching the lap scoring it seems the meeting length was around 6 hours 45 minutes which was a phenomenal effort given the meeting schedule. Looks like the drivers had a decent track for the main event as well. A widening out process early, a dominant high line through the middle with the bottom being the preferred line late. In terms of the officiating call I agree with the call made. If you look at the front end of 1nz through the incident it continues to point toward the wall until he hits 119h. No way he holds his line on the pole without using 119h as a bouncer. Whilst 119h does turn more once entering the corner, it appears his line through the middle stays relatively the same. Had 1nz been able to hold his line on the pole he could have made the pass but he doesn't and in my view is rightfully relegated two positions. Yet another endorsement for one race finals. The best two drivers in the country battling head to head over the final laps is how titles should be decided. Yes Huntly did a good job getting the meeting done : My concern is the Start time : They only allowed 2 hours 5pm start to run 15 Races : This put every thing 1 hour behind with Night 2 Races starting after 8pm With another 20 races to run including 2 x 20 Lappers for the Production Saloons and Minisprints This put every thing 1 hour behind with Night 2 Races starting after 8pm : Then add track prep The feature didnt run till 11.10pm Being a family entertainment sport I believe that puts off spectators : They only allowed one extra hour, not two, as while Friday night was a 7pm start Saturday night was originally planned as a 6pm start anyway, so just one hour extra allowed by starting at 5pm. I think any earlier than this and the track would have been much worse due to another hour of racing under hot sunshine, especially with 30 big-tyred winged warriors. This was a late night finish for families, yes, but with NZ championship meetings I beleive the decisions have to be made to the benefit of the drivers competing moreso than the families attending. There are plenty of other meetings during the year where families can be the priority, but I'd hate to see decisions made that were detrimental to major NZ titles for the sake of a few families. The drivers interests have to take priority at NZ titles. The main race was done by 11.30pm, which was certainly earlier than I thought it would be looking at their ambitious 35 race program. Well done to all the staff at Huntly in getting it through. And the track was at it's best for the 30 lap final, and the Mod drivers put on a real show. Barry B

Pulled infield during the CTRA SI Modifieds at Ellesmere on 15 January and hasn't been seen since. The car looks stunning, and I think I'm right in saying the last chassis ever built with input from the late but forever great John Lovelady. I agree with your picks Barry. The other one I always keep an eye on at big titles in 71S John Jackson, when he pins those ears back and goes for it he is unstoppable. One of those drivers that can find another level for big events. 3NZC and 17W in very good form this season too. For different reasons I'll be keeping an eye on 13C Evan Nicol. He came to Modified racing quite late in life, but from the few interviews I've seen with him he seems to be having so much fun. This will be his first ever North Island appearance as far as I know, so its very cool he is finally ticking that off after many years focussing on the Woodford Glen. Thanks for that Greg. Gives me a bit of info for the commentary from down south. I haven't really seen the Mods run in any great numbers since the NZ Champs at WG two years ago. I think John Jackson would be my pick for third. He can certainly drive. The 3nzc impressed me greatly on my last visit south in 2021, but track knowledge will help 119h and 1nza greatly I think. Should be a great show. A 30 lap final sounds brutal to me. Barry B Percy the bottom line in this post ,do you think it could have anything to do with match fixing ....

Am reading 1NZ made a last corner pass to take the win, but the result is under protest and a possible relegation coming up to give 119h the title My understanding is that the protest wasn't from Brad, the relegation was issue by the referee.

I'm pretty sure that is correct, as explained to commentary by the referee after the race (and after the results had been changed). Barry B

Great to see Brad pick up this title. I hear RB was spannering flat out in brads pit. Would have had a tonne of experience to pass on.
