Have just seen they have announced their exit from speeedway in a couple of weeks time
Real shame as NZDTR is as good as I have seen it in their hands, have been enjoying the longer and more in depth articles. Hopefully the next crew that take it on can keep up the good work

That's sad to hear. The Garage 16 crew were certainly pushing the mag over the live stream from the NZ Modifieds over the weekend just passed.

Garage16 · Garage 16 is officially announcing its exit from all forms of Speedway, the Modified Invasion at Woodford Glen in late March will be our last event. Garage 16 has had an amazing 5 years in the sport but with Aaron retiring in the very near future and Vince taking up a senior management role in another industry, this sends them both in a different direction. For anyone who has met us both, you will know we are 110%-go or don’t go at all types of guys. It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of the sport and personally both Vince and Aaron look forward to seeing all our speedway friends in the future when we visit an event. Further announcements regarding the future of NZDTR and G16 Sport will be made in the coming days.

From Garage 16 Facebook page.
New owners sought for the country's longest-running motorsport publication!
We have returned the magazine to a profitable position with magazine sales, advertising revenue, online presence, and social media exposure ALL on an upward trajectory; it's the perfect time for a new owner to take over!
If you're interested, send us a private message via Facebook or email the editor - vince@garage16.co.nz. Offers over $10,000 will be considered, and once you see the financials you'll see why this is a steal.

SOLDNZ Dirt Track Racing Magazine March 27 at 6:59 PM · A new owner for the magazine has been found and they will be announced shortly. The next issue that goes on sale Thursday next week will be the last one from Garage 16 and has plenty of things we've wanted to say for years but haven't been able to while we've still had skin in the game. If you want to know some of the more interesting things that go on behind the scenes of speedway in NZ then April's issue is the one to get.

Enjoyed writing for Garage 16. They provided a bit of direction which challenged me as a writer. Thought they did a great job in digging up some interesting articles.
Don't know who the next owners are. Hopefully they still want me on board!
I have the inglorious record of having written for every single editor in NZDTR history. I must be getting old.

Don't know who the next owners are. Hopefully they still want me on board! I have the inglorious record of having written for every single editor in NZDTR history. I must be getting old. Wow, really. The mag started in 1986. I took my first pics and covered a WP mid-winter meeting in 1988, and was really looking forward to working with the Garage 16 guys until my health intervened. Maybe I need to pen something really quick and really small so I can say I've written for them all too!!! Garage 16 has done a marvellous job in a short time from what I can see (I've only seen a couple of issues), so it's big shoes to fill whoever the new owner(s) are. Maybe you should have purchased it yourself Percy, or aren't you totally convinced that you'd keep yourself on board? Barry B

Didn't consider buying it for one moment. Have too many other projects to occupy my time.
Every editor has a direction they want to take the magazine. Hopefully I will fit into whatever that direction may be for the new team.
Have been writing for the magazine since November 2004 when Tim Savell took the editorial reigns for a month and gave me an opportunity. Lynda Kuriger returned the following month & as they did not have a Western Springs writer at the time I filled a void.
Thankfully my tenure has been post the period in which they published a mug shot of the article writer!

Personally speaking, I've missed contributions out of Te Marua who haven't been able to replace their regular journo when (s)he retired quite some time back. As that club will be hosting the NZ Streetstocks Champs next season it'd be appropriate to have someone at the club submit a report covering that weekends racing at the very least. As a traveling fan who supports every track in the North Island by attending the major meetings when-ever feasible, it is logistically impossible to commit the quality time necessary to one club for the purpose of being that clubs' meeting reporter to the NZDTM. Having said that I wonder how difficulty can it be to find someone willing and capable of compiling regular contributions, as all the other major tracks manage to do month in, month out. Please do not read these comments as being negative criticism! Rather, the comment is being made to encourage any club not contributing articles for publication by NZDTM to start doing so, because as a reader I love my monthly fix reading about the events your club has hosted in the previous month.

Mark Petch the new owner of which now seems to be abbreviated to NZDTM as opposed to NZDTR magazine (since 1986)

Aside from the Volvo I remember him more from his role in the NZV8's / Super Tourer split of 2011, a point from which touring car racing in New Zealand has NEVER even remotely recovered despite being over 10 years ago now. I'm not saying he was to blame, many parties and ego's played a part as hundreds of thousands of dollars were wasted/lost while large fields of competitive touring cars were transformed into a permanent cure for insomnia. His background is speedway is small, so it'll be interesting to see what his plans for the magazine are, going forward. Barry B

Dont think i will dip in my pocket of loose change to support MR Petch ,any how there is enough on social media these days to keep you informed on the happenings been taken on speedway sport .. Percy could improve and dial up a notch or two seeking greater and positive news of the sport ,he may need a few lessons from Sir Peter Leach ,on how it can be achieved ...
