If entry to NZ Island and NZ Title meeting M4 8-1 require minimum of 3 meetings current season or 3 previous season and 1 current season how come the debacle occured at BP NI Super Saloon Title meeting on 2/12/023. A handful of cars aprox 6 had their entries accepted by close off date 17/11/023 , entered on entry list yet on arrival at track told not allowed to race due to not completing required amount of meetings. Is this competitor's, promotors or SNZ fault? Surely with all electronic cross referencing available that minimum requirement would of been checked off before entry accepted.
WP case, only two super saloon meetings scheduled to date , and one of them rained off if I'm correct.

It’s the drivers fault , dispensations have been sort and approved (or not) in the past for reasons like rain outs
The number of meetings is listed in the drivers electronic log book , which the club wouldn’t have access too for preentries , as the speedway Nz officals do that on the day

The track will blame snz. Snz will put the blame on drivers. Both or which are neither great or helpful. If you had asked each and every supersaloon driver present if they would be happy for them to run what would those drivers say?
Joe faram got tossed after quilfying night of the north island champs and you know what else he never really raced again after. The sport lost a former nz champ and one of its top drivers.
In a class like super saloons that is currently struggling at the moment doing things like this won't help you. It does more harm than good. There is only what three tracks that can run this class as stand alone class? So why are they made to do three meetings? What purpose does that serve?
If the drivers were asked and they won't let them complete then that's a different story. And highlights the problem in the class. But just because it's in a rule book doesn't mean you have to enforce it there are other ways to go about things.

If it is in the rule book it absolutely needs to be enforced or else you end up with very inconsistencies that we all constantly pregnant dog about. If the rule is not working, you change the rule, not ignore it.

If the rule is not working, you change the rule, not ignore it. When your dealing with people and you take people out of the equation and treat them as such you don't get good outcomes. They don't have to be there. People get nuts at work. nuts from most sides of life. And if they also get nuts from the sport they love and enjoy. Well why bother. If it's not working all well it good to change but it's doing so after the fact. If your able to conflict manage communicate and try get to ressolvion people feel way better and your more likely to get postative outcomes. I'm not saying you will lose 6 drivers to the supersaloon ranks over it. But history will suggest indeed in speedway as well as my sport some will turn there back andd never race again just because its in the rule book. Sorry Cruz you know the rules. See you next year. You think that will cut it? The only people this effects are the 18 other drivers who have followed that rule. When you deal with people you deal with there emotions as well. There are ways and things you can do. And I would of put it to a drivers vote. And decussion. So at least the drivers effected know that snz listens and actively trys to get a positive outcome even if it failed. And that's all you ask for from your governing body to be herd and a acknowledgement when crisis is put before you.

Anyway, can someone tell me why the rule exists at all? If its Islands or Nats there are group stages, let the racing sort it out.

Anyway, can someone tell me why the rule exists at all? If its Islands or Nats there are group stages, let the racing sort it out. It exists because there is a fear amoung promoters that without it people won't show up to club nights and race. So it's there to have bigger fields as drivers must race in order to go to championships. In the contact grades there is fear among drivers of drivers showing up to new zealand champs every year take out top drivers and then not show up for the next year. This is why it exists. It doesn't work. Never has does more harm then good. Especially in a sport where the biggest meetings come in the middle of a season not the last ones.

With rules like this you either need to enforce them or dump them and it’s good that they are enforcing them. The drivers have had 3 ish months of racing to sort themselves out. Many stockcar drivers will sign up to share a car for a night and satisfy that requirement but not drive the car they are signed on to race. You would hate to see snz turn a blind eye to the likes of Craig Cardwell or mark Osbourne and allow them to race but turn away some lesser known competitor. Consistency is the key.

The drivers have had 3 ish months of racing to sort themselves out. Careful, not everyone will be some bum labour voter sitting on their ass all day. The ones who haven't made it out would have had higher priorities; you know run the business or tend the family the supports the racing... With all due respect, your not talking a little trade business with 1 or 2 employees to fund a competitive super saloon. Just dumb running so early really.

Yup rules are rules and have been in place for along time now. Must be new drivers to the sport?? We are now 12 weeks into the season since pratices started kicking off
On the entry form it states the meeting will be run as per the SNZ Rule Book and part of signing you agree that you have read and understand and will abide by the rules

We are now 12 weeks into the season since pratices started kicking off On the entry form it states the meeting will be run as per the SNZ Rule Book and part of signing you agree that you have read and understand and will abide by the rules Under the rule book practices don't count as meetings and as stated earlier, WP only had 2 Super Saloon meetings to date and 1 rained off. Yes drivers signed it agreeing to SNZ terms and conditions and the 3 meeting rule one of them, but how many times in our life have we signed an agreement agreeing to all terms and conditions and never read one line of it hoping it doesn't come back to bite us in the back side. It's all right standing up on the pulpit preaching when you have already sinned. Practice what you preach. There is faults all around with finger pointing to drivers, Fact; drivers the ones who at financial loss towing to meeting, promotors charged premium entry fee for meeting they advertised with certain drivers competing, but due to circumstances was a depleted field lining up. Instead of finger pointing, try and learn from this incident. Spectators won't file thru gates paying premium entry fee on off chance all advertised competitors meet criteria . I suppose thee finger pointers take it on the chin, pay premium fee to watch overseas band and turn up and only few members there, rest didn't have pass ports. Those that were there and have commented on these threads have all said only average meeting .

So you’re saying they are highly organised and intelligent people who have the capacity to run high end business but struggle to get down to the track to sign someone else’s scrutineering card and satisfy the one meeting required or apply for a dispensation? We all have limitations when it comes to racing, be it businesses, families, waiting on engines/chassis’s components, budget. however knowing your rule book is paramount when it comes to racing. No fault of anyone but the driver

Net result running a SNZ championship this side of Xmas is a risk to the car count.
