OK Guys everyone thinks they know what going on and they are an expert.
Lets cut the BS answer only factual information.
Is the Springs done and dusted at the end of this season never to ever have speedway happen again? Or is it to be rebuilt properly?
Is Meremere the new reality of what speedway will be for Auckland going forward from now on.
Is Waikaraka part of a bigger plan.

SPECULATION ,has been around this topic ,like an old 78 gramaphone record for some time Lets give them credit for restoring a icon venue from almost a write off ,,sure it has restrictions on seating etc ,till such time money and engineers reports come before council for further revue . As it stands we have an opening date and a race track and it sounds like T Mez is returning ,it will be a month of great speedway entertainment ,not to be missed .

Was involved in the Laneway Festival yesterday in relation to audio engineering.
I know of a concert promotor who has been told that any concert bookings - dates etc in the future, factors as the stadiums availability needs to be taken into consideration based around the Speedway season.
The springs is being considered as a venue for the AC/DC world tour later this year/early 2025.

You'd think if final decisions have been made, that everybody concerned would want everybody else to know, no? Barry B

Bruce Robertson has one more year to go on his contract. Not sure when it will happen but I'd be keeping an eye out for the council calling for Registrations of Interest to run speedway at the Springs beyond that. If they don't do that then it's probably all over.

Tonight Bruce was being interviewed at Waikaraka park over the PA about Western Springs lease and the Waikaraka Park lease. Unfortunately the volume was set very low so i missed about 2/3 of what he was saying. Did anyone hear all of it? We need to know whats happening.

I couldn't hear it clearly either, plus a race started while he was still talking. But i think he said three meetings [4 nights of racing] then the meeting in March MIGHT be the last ever meeting at WS.

Council have tried close down Springs since 1990s. if word or speculation is to be believed have finally got there way. since Bruce Robertson took over promotor for 3 years i think may of had 18 meetings out of 36. which is including upcoming meetings. Council really have just done everything ppossible get it closed. Floods was just final nail were looking for.

W/S Speedway GM on TV 1 Breakfast today. 1 year extension to contract withdrawn and these current meetings could be final. That's my interpretation of the interview.

Yes was interesting comment ,I was amused once again by this bloke ,as it stands there is only restrictive seating ,but he wants the whole stadium filled on the 17th ,once again he shot himself in the foot ,and lets just hope crowds dont turn up expecting a seat ,disappointment now doubt for many genuine speedway folk that can afford the price for a great show ...

I wouldn't know how much smokes are as don't smoke but if they want to pack out what limited seating they have 45 bucks for early bird or 50 for normal sales probably isn't the way to fill the stadium seating they have
