7s - Bill Barron. This car had a rover in it. Bill still owned the car until a couple of weeks ago. It has been sold to Craig Korff who races the 8s TR8. I believe that his son will be driving it next season.

There were two MGBGTs, one was 6s Rowan Julian & the 2nd was 7s Bill Barron but I think Wayne someone drove it before him. Heres some photos Off Rowans cars I will scan some off the number 7s later. This car ended up in Nelson in the hands of Steve Donker. Was a Kuriger built deal with hot Rover and a Skinny type convertorless powerglide. I did alot of maintenance work on the engine and tranny until Hank Donker died(Steve's Dad) They planned to inject it and fit a decent quickchange to it but that never eventuated. Steve also managed to replicate the bottom photo here in front of the control tower. Time frame approx 1988-89?? Cant remember if the car was scrapped or went down to greymouth in the end. The Guthries built a copy and the Nelson public were treated to two of them to look at.

Lance Humphreys also ran one in Auckland in late 70's or early 80's, think his late dad raced as well not sure if it was an MGB, Pall Mall will no doubt have some pics of their cars.

Lance Humphries MGB had a P76 engine that was bored out to over 300cuin. I think it was 34A.? I always liked that car but it seemed to be plagued by reliability problems. I am sure that when it left Auckland it went down to Taranaki as I remember seeing in a petrol station workshop in Urenui not long after. Late 80's I think

Sounds like the Steve Donker Kuriger ex Julian deal. It had all of the things you mentioned. the boys will be down there around Queens Birthday weekend for the Champs so I'll get them to do a bit of asking round if you dont mind waiting that long.

pinball, the mg was in the late Brian Hopkins workshop in Urenui, Brian and his wife Naomi were a regular feature behind the scenes at Stratford at that time and had been for quite some time(brian had driven at some point), Brians son David piloted stockcar 63s around for a season or 2 back then and Naomi's brother was ex modified pilot and club pres, Neil Hosking
