Hammond Racing Team.. 43p Darryl Hammond - how many cars has he built and where are they now? The 47p car alongside was, but may not have been at this time, Peter Trotter. Gary Trotter had the car before Peter, and before that I think it was raced by Robin Wildbore - Not sure who built it, was it Dave Evans? It does look similar to the original Ford Pop 6p..

The Roigard picture was taken at the Old Baypark i think !
This was before David and the rest off the club combined with Kihikihi for a season.
Then we lost him to Huntly, and the rest, as they say is history !
Cheers Bazza

Hammond Racing Team.. 43p Darryl Hammond - how many cars has he built and where are they now? Both photos are of the same car only a couple of seasons apart. This one was the lightweight Kuriger that Daryl got to do the NZ Title in 1992(?)Originally with a powerglide tranny/Ford V8 combo. This one was sold to ChCh and is back in Palmy as 55p(?) Before this one Grandad Hammond and Darryl shared the ex Bob Smith Kuriger. Darryl has since built a Nissan powered(ex 240cid Bullet engine?) coil over copy.He built it about 3-4 seasons ago?

I see hes been running Eddies car with the real blokes!!! ;D
Didnt get much of a chance to catch up with him here at Easter. He was going pretty good in the races that I did see.
We got the pleasure(? ;D) of taking Grandad home after the Clubrooms shut. That brought back some old memories I can tell you that for nothing eh??? The old man hasnt changed but I think we all have. The Labour Weekend Anniversary deal down here will be interesting as Tony has a few things planned!!! **Gulp:Swallow!!!**

Totally awesome pics!! Thanks to all contributors. Takes me back to when Dave Evans and Bill Dorn were my Saturday night hero's.
A couple of things I noticed.. 1 old girlfriend, no cellphones and the hot dog caravan is still the same one that I'll be going to tomorrow night - it must've sold millions...
Full credit to you fantastic historians, please do continue. 1980's at Palmy were good too... the Rolly Polly car, Benny Boerbooms 454 Chevy Rat, the Bionic Mini with the fat wheels, the American Hell Drivers dragster crash, wooden safety rails, white 44 gallon drum markers etc. etc.

That last post almost sounds like an old Baypark memory. The American Helldrivers were wicked. Mate of mine got to do a lap on 2 wheels with them. Couldnt wipe the smile off his face for days after. Sorry I know this is off topic but it is interesting from memory how much people used to travel in those times
