There was also two running out of Beachlands Speedway in Dunedin in the early to mid 90's, Graeme Hodge ran one, the others name escaped me at the moment. I may have some pictures of these at home.

They were all the rage in the 80s, I think that Gary McKelvie 62W was one of the first, there are some pictures on the Speedway Archive, not as many as I expected. It was the Kuriger body of choice prior to those little Trans Ams and Camaros.

Great thread nato37c, and one I can assist with a heap of pics! Our very own Wiseowl sold his Monza to Norm Butler, here it is the season before Norm got it. He got the car from Geoff Fletcher, who had raced it for three seasons from 1985-86. Is a Kuriger chassis, the car stayed with Norm before returning to the NI and being converted to a Ltd Saloon for Craig Richards in late 1997-98. Ended up with Mike Hermansen 9p until a couple of seasons ago, and is still around to this day.

Who could forget John Caseys Monza, one of the early ones out of Beachlands plus the later ones of Storman Norm, Doug Smith and Roy Granger all doing the Southern tracks.

There are some great pictures out there somewhere of Blondie in his pale blue Rover and Pete Sloman in the Monza pictured earlier at Blenheim side by side for almost the entire race.

Blue monza ran out of Nelson too, Donker family I think There was 3 Monza's from the Donker Stable at one stage. Hank (Dad-RIP) had converted the ex Rod Penn V8 Commodore over to Monza. Steve (Son) had an ex Purdy (?) Kuriger(?) Tony Robertson (Son in Law) had an ex ChCh deal. Hanks one had a passenger seat in it for ride days on their track in Motueka. When all 3 cars were together it was pretty impressive. Sometimes this didnt always equate to great results but it did lift the profile of Super Saloons in Nelson for sure!!

Ray Wright had a Monza at WP early eighties and sold it to Ray Makene from Kaikohe. That thing used to stick to the track like the proverbial sh#t to a blanket, I used to look forward to seeing it line up on the front straight and while stationary he would give the gas pedal a quick nudge and the car virtually jumped off the ground, an awesome car. Lance Jennings had a Buick Skyhawk which I think was pretty much a rebadged Monza
