I just love to see something a little different..........2007 was a great meeting well received by all. This will see things step up another notch. Well done Rotorua.

One of the great things about this meeting is that those to qualify begin with last year's meeting, with others slowly being added as the summer progresses, building up to the big show at season's end.
Pre-Qualifiers to date; Steve Axtens (last year's World of Stocks winner) and Grendon Beazley (Stocks in Paradise)
NI title; Dale Roberston, Tony James & Mark Woods
SI title; Cleve Kokshorn, Peter Ross & Neil Frew
NZ title; Alan McRobbie, Gerry Linklater & Richard Gaskin
11 down, 17 to go (including 5 from overseas)
R = 3, V = 2, W = 2, C = 2, S = 1, GM = 1

how come u23's arent included ? not a NZ reconised champs Certainly something for the Rotorua promotion to consider perhaps, should that particular event continue to attract interest and grow in stature. But no, it is not a SNZ title - currently at least.

Last two, automatically seeded, champions to be found this weekend, weather gods willing, with the GP meeting in Wellywood. Then the buildup to this great end of season meeting can really begin. Dale Robertson and Richard Gaskin have already qualified of course.

I believe all of the Pre-Qualifiers has now responded with an affirmative answer, 5 overseas drivers have been named, the Grand Prix is STILL to happen, but the field is starting to take shape. Let's hope plenty of stirrers get invited in to shut down some of these flag runners with titles against their names

The GP is not rated quite as highly as the other 3 events, and that allows for one more qualifier on the weekend to sneak through........and this year if any of the podium finishers had declined their invitation - which a couple did last year but none have this year - fourth place would not have been moved up but room made for another qualifier from the first night.

Bit of a stuck record there Rotaholic.
How can you recognise someone from an event which is restricted to certain drivers, in this case age. What would happen if there was a masters class for over 50s. Or if Rotorua had 3 of their drivers entering from the Rotorua Championship - open to Rotorua registered cars only. Hardly fair. You would hear the groans above the noice of the engine revs.
I think Rotorua have been very open in their selection criteria and those events NI/SI, NZ and GP are events where everyone with a stockcar can enter and if they get in the right position can get an entry to WOS. Cannot be fairer than that.

the under 23 champs is only a under 23 champs run by the stratford (which a great job they did) AND IS NOT a NZ title!
so he will have to do it the hard way just like every other driver want to race in the [glow=green,2,300]World Of Stocks[/glow]
