Basically, the World 240 (cubic inch) is a Scott Miers' promotion, which was run at P/N when he was promoter there, and now run out of Rotorua.
The Global Challenge, 248 cubic inch, is Bruce Roberstson's replacement for the meeting Scott took with him when he was ousted.

yes but isnt it a fact that cars are now allowed otu to 248ci so some are not actually 240 and thus shouldnt be in the rotorua event

Prior to the engine rule change it was actually 241.6 anyway not 240. And last time I checked 248 was in the 240's range of numbers Doesn't mean 249s are allowed though!!! PAUL

Easiest thing is to refer to the Palmy meet not as the 'World 248s', but as THE GLOBAL CHALLENGE, which is its correct name. To use the word World or New Zealand in a championship needs approval by governing body, and the World Invitation Superstock Champs (240's) in Rotorua is the event that has that approval. It is also an important element with the reciprocal arrangement with the BriSCA people in England, that the winners of each hemishperes World title is automatically invited to attend at the other event. Haha, yep. Going to be extremely busy weekend thats for sure. As well as myself and usual sidekick Mark Cutforth, we have enlisted the help of both Mintie and Barry Brown. We will be covering all angles, plus adding extra bits for the webcast too. Phil Dark will be doing the main racecalls for the web. PAUL
