I will be supporting Shane at the NZ Superstock Champs for yet another year. Poor guy seems to come across trouble ever single year whether it's deliberate or not.
Go Shane!!!
Wiseowl I totally agree once more with your comments!

Sorry all, I didnt mean to upset anyone or even slag Shane or even emply anything based on events of his racing career. He is arguably the best drivers ever, ive been a fan his whole career. Sorry to his fans, family or critics for saying it. I just got caught up in the Championship scenario supporting my track & thought sometimes team mates help each other out if it gets heated on the track. I shouldnt have said that about a great ambassador for the sport and wont bring negative comments about drivers we all love to watch Dont be sorry king ! You like everyone else on this board are entitled to your own opinion/views on anything speedway!!! So you said something that made a few people upset? BIG DEAL! They"l get over it.I bet your boots shane penn himself aint lost any sleep over it.Besides,im sure you only WROTE what a lot of other people THOUGHT I mean lets face the facts people. How many titles did he win racing for the bay? ? Now how many has he won since contracting to palmy? Enough said PS In no way am i disrespecting the bay in any way, just stating the facts

Considering palmy race every weekend and have far more competition Shane has been able to lift his game, therefore has had more success since contrating to palmy. We wish Shane all the best at Wangas.

Well out of the Top 4 Championships (South Island not included for obvious reasons) this is what Shane has won.
Racing for Hawkes Bay: North Island Champion 2002-03 3nz (77b) NZ Grand Prix Champion 1996-97 59b
Racing for Palmerston North: World Invitation Champion 2006-07 3nz (7p) NZ Grand Prix Champion 2006-07 3nz (7p)
Didn't win any racing with an 'R' on his car! I'm sure there were probably plenty of Rotorua cars in those finals he competed in when he had an 'R' on his car.

So in 3 seasons with a P on the car he has won as many as in 15 years with a B.........
And how many has he lost because he had a B on the car, compared to with a P? And how many times was he taken out by Palmy cars when he ran with a B??

Your right tim - if you can;t run with the wolves hunt with the hounds.
I mean if Kelvin Gray can win a Manawatu title with a Rotorua car with an R on the side and still be a "local" its fair to say it doesn;t matter which track you belong to, its who your mates are.
Dale Ewers is obviousley moving in the right circles, he must be a candidate in Wanganui if on points going by his website

Don't know Tim, do you?
The Silver Bullet's not a bad vehicle to drive though! Talented driver and great car, like Craig Boote and the 7n vehicle of 1998-99, and 1999-00 seasons.

Trying to remember one of your Dirt Track articles but those two cars must two of the most successful cars apart from the Paul Wade/Barry Hunter car of the late 80's, early 90's.

And how many times was he taken out by Palmy cars when he ran with a B?? Come on Tim - hardly a clever post this one... What year did Shane first get his hands on a car that could be considered a Top 5 in NZ ? - and one worthy of his talent ? - I'm sure most would agree it was the year he fronted in the ex Chris Allen Gordge Ford where he promptly got 2nz and won the North Islands. - with a B on the side. Since the purchase of the Bullet he has moved up again. Was close to winning the NIs at wangas until Miers' killer blow and of course was close to winning the NZs in Auck until Darcy worked his magic - all with a B. Lastly, Shane didn't need to contract to Palmy to get any better - he regularly drove down there and 'smoked' the locals with a B on the side - so in my opinion the whole "better competition" argument is considerably flawed. I genuinely believe it's all about Money and Championship support - and I don't actually have a problem with that as he owns the car and can do as he pleases with it, which is sad for us HB fans, but at least we've only lost two for this season - Stratford are missing more of their stars...

Not that it maters but it had a P not an R. Thanks for the pictorial reminder mr666. I must have been mistaken - it was the Waikato champs where he drove the car with an R on the side - i guess the letter on the side is dependent on the track your racing on

No doubt about it he of course has had far more teams racing success with Palmerston North.
Not questioning that at all.
I will be keen to see how he goes tomorrow night in the Mellsop car at the 248's.
Thanks for the enjoyable debate guys. ;D

You disagree, then come to the exact same conclusion - for championship support My post was prompted by Tim's first sentance so I should have quoted only that line - however I'm not sure that my post came to the same conclusion as you suggest, as Tim continued by asking two questions And I think I might know the answer too - Taken out just the one time by Scotty at the North Islands - and the the other is a zero I think - so it's 1-0 in Palmy's favour. It really depends on what you class as being 'taken out' as a spin can be just as costly as a trip into the concrete, and those occaisions are a little more difficult to recall... However, Tim's post has led me to ponder the following - Shane could very well have contracted to Palmy for simple purpose of NOT getting taken out by Palmy cars at the big meets... makes perfect sense really. It would make Race 3 a lot more enjoyable knowing that the likes of Miers and Rees are in your camp...
