With so many major meeting going on the NZ champs has crept up on us only a week and a half away. So who do we think will be the main contenders? Being a Te Maruaite I would have to pick Tama in the 9W, but I also like the looks of 4S Mark Dixon and 71S John Jackson. Of course a few of the Northerners and Southerners are more than capable of taking the title. I haven't seen to much of them so far this season who do those in the know think are the most like to trek home with 1NZ?

i think mike gouley will be a contender but only if he can get the full use of the power he has.
glen leach has to be in my top 5 and is as follows
scotty lane 1nz mike gouley 2nz tama 3nz glen leach 4th foxy 5th (if he doesn't crash because of his win at all costs mentality)
just a pity i cant get up there to see them this year

Leech would be a shoe in if he was going but alas not this year. Hopefully next season he will be there for his turn at 1nz.

Certainly a pity we won't get to see Glen Leech in action. How is Natasha Rodgers going lately?

Any one of the 20 cars that qualify are more than capable of winning the NZ champs. At the end of the day one with the most luck and who can stay out of trouble will win. I believe this is 50% and the other 50% is driving. Good luck to who ever is best on the nite and I am sure Brian McPhee will prepare an awesome track

1nz fox 2nz tama 3nz blakley fox for sure as long as there is no incidents but tama will be hard to bet for sure and blakley has been the bridesmaid latley so he will be up there for sure. strange no one has mentioned the current champ dont think the current title holder will be any thing for these guys from the limited amout i have seen especially what i heard from nz sprint car champs he was very average. but J&J won there again so may be the same for the modified division Craig ward is another to watch have heard mike gouley is running extremly well but it dosnt take much to scramble things up with a crash or two , so yes most of the people that qualify could take it out i beleive only if the top guys mentioned have have issues

We were havin a Bourbon on sat nite after the saloon GP in Nelson clubrooms, Cliffy joined us and was having a yak to John, he is running the NZ mods. ( at that stage anyway). said his car is feeling really good at the moment., word on the street is Glen is NOT going, but suppose have to wait n see, if he does hes my pick for 1NZ if not i think foxy will take it.
