Im looking for pics of Big Bad Charlies cars through out time but mainly of his burgandy chassis and black body. The one that has been seen at the NZs and Teams in recent years.
Would like pics of all angles as Im working on something with them all.

I have photos of the car as it is now from all sorts of angles. Call them modellers photos. Send me a PM and let me know what you want and I will email them to you. Sorry everybody, got enough stuff to upload to put on here at the moment including another lot of Ray Wright photos.

Hi Mr Ugmo, if you pm me you're address or better still if you know someone here in Palmerston North that might be happy to do some scanning, I would be happy to get some shots of this car to you. I have a bunch of photos taken from 1979 - 1983, & some of the same car taken with one of the newer owners (myself). A little trivia, Graham Mitchell warned Charles if he won the NZ's (Wanganui, 1982) he would give Charles a 'love bite'. I'm certain it wasn't the lure of that promise that helped Charles take the title, but Graham did live up to that promise (a scary sight). I must admit as a 15 year old bloke at the time I thought that a little odd, but i understand the Aucklanders do things a little different. P.S. Top marks to Mark Cromarty for the resto job.

Nice pic there Mr Spy. I think those 'Westy looking dudes' to the left of the Westy looking John hughs might be of Nelson origin going by the tow vehicle - I think Ron Frost or Dave Hewitt towed there car with something like that. Another bit of useless information - Charles sought a lot of his race components, that he didn't have in his back yard, from the Wanganui car dump. I couldn't believe my eyes when we went into Central City motors (Mr Sloman) to purchase an HQ holden brake caliper. I recall it cost $20 (Pete wouldn't give discount!). At the time it was very extravigant, although for the nationals in Wanganui he did bolt on a brand new set of Reidrubber 404's. I think his sponsor may have helped out there though. Hey Brett, how's it all going in Missouri? Has the recession eaten into the racing at all? BL

Hey Brett, how's it all going in Missouri? Has the recession eaten into the racing at all? BL I don't think it has made an impact yet locally, but then the season is pretty much done, I am guessing there will be a lot of gear for sale in the off season, some good bargins to be had but then the NZ dollar has dropped so that is offset a bit. It will be interesting to see how the winter goes, gas is down to around $3 a gallon so that's one positive.

Didn't Charlie or Dennis Welch have a paintbrush on top at some stage? I might look through some earlier threads to see if I can find some photo's.

The car had a Paint brush on it and one point or another. I still have some work to do on this but heres a progress pic. Once we have a flat chassis modeled and in game it will be transferred on to that. And then one day down the track if we ever get around to it a legends of the 70/80s the whole car will be made to replicate it.
