Yer ive seen a few wheels and things over the years clear the fence at the glen with not much effort at all,but if you build a higher 1 there is still a chance of wheels ect still clearing the fence

Ben me ole buddy, I feel for you. Not to pleasant to suddenly become a passenger facing something that doesn't look good (to under state it).I stayed clear in the pits, seeing you had enough on your plate. So I'm saying Hi , sorry for ,and crack into it and we'll see you back soon. I believe in what Micheal says, that its not too bad. Now what I thought was mandatory is not!! I'm talking about a toe clip or cap on the accelerator pedal,so your foot fits in the pedal and not on it. Its a requirement in the faster drag cars and I really thought it was same for super saloons etc. I'm comforted in the knowledge mine has. Imagine been in Ben's' predicament, your natural tendency is to lift the right foot, if accelerator is unwilling to come up you will be lifting pretty dam quick, which will over come most of any bind or catch. And yes most of us have three or more springs. But they are only springs whoop-de-doo. There is talk on here of the fence, bugger the fence for now. What I'm on about is giving more back up control to the driver (who are quite skilled) to lower cars velocity in a mishap situation.Supers , Sprint cars , and modified should all have this as compulsory. We are all striving for more exciting racing, bought about by faster and faster speeds/lap times, through more horsepower, better chassis components, much better track preparation (Cromwell leads by the way!!!). WHY NOT MAKE POSITIVE ACCELERATOR RETURNS ? Fences are a last defense, which are easily breached, broached and cleared by things bought about by speed. Its true, you cant build a fence high enough to stop all errant bouncing tires (wheels)on the move without their car. But again spare a thought for us (spear). Thats right imagine a stuck accelerator at the last minute ,about to turn in. Whack along and up the wall into the air then some part of the car being impaled on the uprights of a mediocre fence. Does not bear thinking about. This brings me back to another thread, Red Caps. We at the glen call ours Blue Caps, red caps blue caps what ever. Read it. I like most of it. Anyway ,we non contact classes,of the faster variety need and must have good reffing to keep it kleen. We have all seen some horrific super saloon crashes at the glen over the years, but really so far this year been good, poor ole Ben. In fact super saloon racing in the south island has been ,large incident free,so far. Really hope it stays that way. remit time must remember. Cheers . Dave. good luck Ben, I'd help you but have no time, help with finances but have very little of that too. Just best wishes from us to you.

Dave, his car has one of those types of accelerator pedals, I guess when your going in that quick it all happens so fast that you have no time to do anything about it. After all if you had that much time you could always turn the power off and that may slow it down

Hi all, thought i would chuck a bit of an update on to keep you all informed! Davey thanks for the condolances! if you had have come over i prob wouldnt have remembered!! yeah as visacard said ive got one of them type gas pedals but by the time i thought of that she was all over rover! lets hope there isnt a next time for me to put it into practice hahaha! Pistolknight lets hope santa is in a real real good mood mate!! ive had shiney(chassis builder) out tonight and the news isnt real great. could be a wee bit more involved than i first thought. its certainly salvageable and im sure shiney will do an awesome job! its a real credit to him on the way he has built the car because it has all bent in the places it was designed to if ever in a huge impact, the area around the drivers cockpit is pretty much unscathed! hes a legend! so ive started pulling the car down to get back on his jig and chassis plant so he can work his magic but at this stage in looks as though im going to cromwell to enjoy the festivitys only! never mind theres always next year! thanks again for all the postivity, Ben

Outrageous crash.
Videographer a little ``glass half-full'' calling it a ``close call'' though!

Outrageous crash. Videographer a little ``glass half-full'' calling it a ``close call'' though! It was a very violent crash - I suspect the "close call" was more in regard to self preservation. I thought to myself it was a close call - that fence at the glen is low, just imagine if had gripped on top of the wall and gone over the fence and mowed down a heap of people. I think that might have been the camera mans veiw of the close call - cause man - that fence is low.

Hmmm lets flog that dead horse, shall we. Stopped Ben from going through didn't it? Also caught a TQ/Midget a few seasons back that got mighty d**n high....yes he was hooked on the top of the post, but it was a huge effort height wise. Been spoken about in other threads, with appropriate repsonses from the people in the know, so will leave it at that. Back to topic.....good thing them spaceframes give way in all the right places aye Ben?! Shiney may have thought of a few more tricks to implement in the beast, whilst he has it back in the workshop? ;D
