Well done Burs Lets Hope you have a good haul down to Cromwell. Track conditions may be a little different so you prob need to get down here on the 1st for a play. Flynn bros, if you dont make it youll end up regretting it as it could be a real good opportunity to get the elusive 1NZ on your door. Also anyone else wanting to enter, get a hold of me sooner than later.
Regards Phil

...Didnt happen Award 42usa Super Saloon.... He did amazing well for the short time he was out. Flew in this morning, worked on car with the boys, had a snooze and was woken up at 5 o'clock to get race ready!!. Was going real well till he over cooked it on turn 3. Still freakin awesome to watch... even if it was only for 3.5 minutes. and i have video footage of his whole race/practice which only took up about 1-2mb on the camera lol, he did do pretty good though on his 1st time in the car at BP

last night had potential for good racing but they blew it with a terrible track surface.
With visiting drivers and good fields and they put on a track surface like that was unacceptable. the amount of flat tyres during the night was far to high and the track was dust half way thought the first race.
The US driver Casey was never going to impress us any way as the track conditions wouldnt of suited his style.
Burson drove well to win the final race but sending Emerson to the back I feel was the wrong call.
Bring on the NZ Super saloons in Cromwell!! lets see a drivey surface not a slick rutty baypark.

there was some extremely impressive racing last night especially those drivers who managed to keep their cars out of trouble. the track left alot to be desired last night, i overheard someone say it was really wet and then they proceeded to bring out the water truck and put even more on, then they had the front end loader in between races trying to level it out and making a complete hash of it. i do feel sorry for the competitors and fans alike because of the track alot of racers sustained unessecary damage and couldnt get a good drive. but again full credit for the drivers getting out there and doing it and doing it well

How do i put, it is hard to admit even on the way home we were thinking of Cromwell but for the first time in about 20 years there will be no Flynn's competing for the NZ Title. I must say a big thumbs up to the promotion team down there, as you have been in contact with everybody throughout the season which is more than most tracks ever do. I wish your club well & hope this title continues to be a success. Just to put things into perspective this season marks 35 seasons of continuous racing from the Flynn family, whilst all working for wages, we are still competing which means huge hours in the shed (& i mean huge). Most teams only run one car, we run two. My chassis was new last season & new engine this year. Steve's chassis is brand new, last night was the 2nd time out & his engine was freshened this off season as well, start adding up the $$$ & throw in $3000 that was paid in August for the SSCAR series that we will be competing in this Feb /march 2009. Which in a nutshell that sums up why we won't be in Cromwell. Man our family holidays have always been attending th NZ champs. Back to Baypark real happy to finish 2nd to our other overseas driver 21n Ian Burson just for making the effort. Thought i had it in the bag but Russel dive bombed me to the infield which happens (at least i bet him lol) & we all still finished . I did ask for 25laps at drivers briefing but 20 it was. Love those long races. Steve had throttle problems all night but car was hooking up great . I must say it was great to see 21supers together even though track prep & the yank didn't go to plan It was still speedway nz style, you never know what your get. We will be back on the 30th to do it all again.

... It was still speedway nz style, you never know what your get. We will be back on the 30th to do it all again.. Very sorry the Flynns will not be represented at the New Zealand Super Saloon Champs in Cromwell. Aside from their amazing traditional contribution to speedway and championship meetings over many years - Having raced at Cromwell recently, I'm confident they would add significant value to the event and be very competitive. Grant, as for your comment, "It was still speedway nz style, you never know what your get" ... choke on your tongue! Baypark's track prep style is absolutely, definetly relevant to, unique to BAYPARK, not the wider speedway community. Speedway NZ style in the 'track prep' department has moved on at almost all tracks I visit. Get back to Gizzy, your own track Meeanee, Huntly, Te Marua etc and likely you'll get a quality race surface. HEAD for CROMWELL!!

... How about you go race there and let these guys race where they want to! I do, all of them, plus some, and it's great! I can afford to, as I'm not spending a fortune on track induced repairs and replacement tyres! Sorry Grant if you took my comments as 'telling you where to race'. BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO IAN BURSON for his FEATURE WIN! And another round of applause to those Ian credited his presence at Baypark to following invites / representations from: Neville Stewart, Russell Donovan, Brent Emerson.

Yup the Sprint drivers were all told at briefing that tonight was saloon night which I can fully understand and we would only get one heat and a feature which may be shortened depending on time, its our turn on Tues, I can see if we did run all 26 cars in each heat the chance of wrecks and cautions would be greater (me being one in feature bugger it) Personally I like a track that is challenging to drive, like rough water in a hydroplane boat race, it brings out the real drive in you and makes you think more about what line to take, what I dont like is wrecking gear on a rough track however it seems we all survived ok this time ;D ;D is it Tuesday yet

a big thanks for the 21 super saloons that ran in the south pacfics last night ,i have had many calls and emails , guys and girls you put on a great show for the many many spectators that were present ,i was proud to race a super that night,
the supers run at b\p on the 30th so if you want torun rock on down or up
now mr flynn needs a cuddle if any one is down in the bay call round and give him one for me ,we all run on tight budgets but we do it because its what we do, i am not sure about this dive bombing bussiness but it takes two to tango ,it was ashame about the backmarker it cost me the win but heres the point grant its racing things happen its history now you cant change you got a second out of a 21 car feild , i went from hero to zero after leading for dam near the whole race ,smile and enjoy it because i will smoke you next time
