I'm not really up with the play with regards any differences between our midgets and overseas midgets so I was interested to read somewhere some time ago that, although the Longdill (?) V8 midget was OK running in NZ, it wouldn't be able to compete overseas. Can anyone fill me in as to why it's inelligible. It seems a shame that he has developed this engine but that it can't be seen on the world stage.

I'm sorry I can't answer your question ... but ... back in the 80's Mel Kenyon developed a Suzuki V8 that was two bike engines on a common crankshaft.
Similar principal I guess .. how it worked out I don't know.

I am not sure what has happened to the proposed rule change to align with USAC engine rules, this apprently would outlaw the Longdill engine. Here are some shots of the restored Kenyon car, a much larger unit. Bill Buckley ran a V8 Yamaha deal with 4 engines joined together in a Peter Bruin chassis in the 80's, anybody with photos of this?

I've been led to believe that Longdill's one sounds awesome. Does anyone have any video clips or links of the beast cranked up?

Gavin i have the publicity blurb which came out at the time the Buckley car raced. Can't transfer the scan for some reason. I'll do a copy for you.

if any one know how to get a hold of the owner of the old mel kenyon car please let me know [/IMG]
It was owned by Des Kiehne in Aussie. The Kiehnes own a heap of old midgets. Send narrowtyre a PM, he should have an email address for the Brisbane Vintage Midget Club who can put you on to the owner.
