Have been thinking for a bit and have sort of answered my own question but what do you people think on the Frankie Waiman Jnr automatic qualifying for 240s thing?
Sure Frankie lives in the UK, races F1s, is one of the elite top drivers over there and has to travel to race in NZ. But on his car he is registered as 55r, races at the NZ Champs (sure other internationals race in other classes NZs) and other meetings around the country when he can.
Its hard to compare but you could argue Wayne Hemi should be given automatic qualification. I mean sure he has won all major Superstock titles and team races for the Panthers and use to live in NZ. But now he is much like Frankie, still has to fly to NZ every/other weekend to race and compete since he lives in Aus so why isnt he automaticly qualifyed? He is an international driver to an extent...
I have nothing against Frankie automaticly qualifying, I just thought he is just as good as our local NZ drivers as he has shown nearly taking out 3nz last season, it would be good to watch him go through the qualifying procedure and im sure he will make it through like he does at the NZ Champs.
However good luck to the GB and Holland Driver/s and bring on the British Lions at Team Champs!!!

However good luck to the GB and Holland Driver/s and bring on the British Lions at Team Champs!!! I'm sure FWJ would'nt be bothered either way! In the UK all "true" foreign entrants (including dutch drivers with only the English Channel to cross)" are graded directly to our "world final" where we have specific grid positions allocated and the foreign entrants do time trials to decided which positions they start. The foreign entrant places are limited to the top points scoring/ championship drivers and normally 8 or so foreign entrants are graded in. The UK drivers have to pick up points at specific qualifying rounds thoughout the season, then the top 48 are split into two semi finals and the top 10 from each get to qualify for the big race. So in the UK by the same argument we could say that all entrants have to qualify in the same way........which may be possible for a couple of Dutch drivers but not really practical for everone else - and whats the point of a "World" championship based on local drivers only! I think the way it's handled at the moment between all the countries is fair based on the differences in the qualification methods.

I think the current system is just fine, having to qualify for the New Zealand's, GP etc, and seeded through for the World 240's. They come too far not to race, and people travel a long way to see them race on the second night, or should say watch them get pummeled on the second night hahaha. The only change I'd like to see is FWJ racing as 55GB, or even better still, 515GB, at all times. We need to promote our International drivers better than wheat we actually do, they're one of our greatest assets..........
