i was slightly less nervous at the start of the second night. With the car ready to go from the start. i still find it strange having kids come up and ask for my autograph, and sorry for the messy writing kids heh. i'm not exactly practiced
GLEN EAGLES vs WARRIORS:
With all the team ready to race i parked up on the grass and the flag dropped. wow. what an effort by all the guys and i saw Macmannaway slowly catching shag and i was thinking "this is going to hurt"
and i know it did. i'm sure i felt it. Hope Campbell is doing ok and well done to all the glen eagles, it was a great race to watch.
well done to darryl, dion, kerry and shag (was impressed at how solid his car really is). They all worked well as a team and was an assume effort by all.
ROTORUA vs WARRIORS
well i'm proud to say i only sh*t my pants twice during the night to the build up to the rotorua race for 5th and 6th. (heh stole that saying off someone heh ;D).
with a swap round of cars diz (waktins) was in shags (steves) car and dion was in the tank. once i gridded up the nerves were gone. flag dropped and i got caught up and tangled in the fence in the pit corner with hewson. i took off and was running around 3rd or 4th when i hesitated a bit long when trying to get through a gap of tangling cars and hewson whacked me up the rear end. the torque arm snapped and universals in the drive shaft blew, was pushed around for half a lap till the red light switched on (presumeably to pick up my drive shaft off the track) and the car ground to a halt, race over for me.
all in all i was a lil dissappointed in myself with the last race as i didn't really do anything or help out in anyway way, but hey, i'm learning. The rest of the guys fought hard and well done to Darryl for fighting to the end when he was all by himself.
so it was a great weekend and great experience. i learnt alot, and i hope i get the oppertunity to race next year. Cause to be honest, a normal race is tame when compared to teams racing. Its an awesome buzz, and the best thing is you KNOW there are fours cars out there who are going to hit you, and 3 other cars out there that aint going to (hopefully) ;D
