Thanks for the comments guys, but I couldn't do any of this without the contributions of lots of other Macgorians. The next car is nowadays known as the car Craig Boote won his first 1NZ in at Christchurch in 1997, and is a car that probably would have ended up as a std stock a lot earlier if it hadn't undergone an extensive rebuild by Rex Neild and Murray Hobbs which saw it emerge as a near clone to Rex's then current Gordge Hot Rod in late 1994. By 2002 it was becoming unreliable and bits were falling off, not surprising after the hard racing it had been put through, and Tony Whittaker replaced it with the other ex Boote Hot Rod after the 2002 NZ Champs. And here is a fuzzy photo of the two ex Hobbs/Boote cars side by side at the Palmerston North World 240s in 2002. Neil McCoard and Tony Whittaker.

As Scrapper44 says, it is the 28K car that has just been rebuilt after the big hit from Scotty Miers at the Auckland Teams last year. Will be along on here eventually. Brendon got 3NZ in the car.

Hi all
I remember chatting with Neil McCoard when he owned the Pulman/Hobbs rocket & he mentioned that the Pulman/hobbs car ,the Nield/hemi car [ Ali SVO ] & Lionel Penns car all went down the Gorge assembley line at the same time.
1 Does the Pulman/Hobbs car still have the same Donovan block
2 Where abouts is the Hemi car now.....Blenheim ?
3 Where is Lionel Penns car , originally Windsor power. Then to Craig Mcleish & Toyota powered with ITM team.

No, sorry incorrect. We went through this on the orignal Gordge Hot Rod threads. The Hot Rod from Hell was a brand new car for Dennis, the ex Dixon car was the one before. History and photos will follow eventually. BTW this is confirmed as fact from the original Log Book of the HRfH that is still retained by Kerry.

If I am not mistaken didn't this car win the NZGP twice. 1998 with Dennis, and 2003 with Kerry. If that is correct then individually that isn't bad, it is just that it has gained a formidable reputation as a team car, thanks mainly to its durability.

Thanks for the update on the 3x Gordges Pallmall Surely Rex Nields 88r Chevy screamer from the early nineties Rates as the original Gordge hot rod Come to think of it maybe Keith Simpsons first Gordge with the Gurney Eagle might rate as being the original Cheers

Thanks for the update on the 3x Gordges Pallmall Surely Rex Nields 88r Chevy screamer from the early nineties Rates as the original Gordge hot rod Come to think of it maybe Keith Simpsons first Gordge with the Gurney Eagle might rate as being the original Cheers Don't worry, we will get to all of them eventually, this is an in progress, long term project to nail the history. I reckon there will be some lively debate and lots of interesting information coming out in the off season when people involved in racing have a bit more time. I have a list of questions for Del and Rex regarding their Gordge cars, but they are real busy for a few months, and I can wait. There may be some more histories up over the weekend if my planned 3 days of Superstock watching get rained out, otherwise sometime next week. Here is a photo of the ProAction Chev Gordge Hot Rod and the Hot Rod from Hell side by side at Huntly, Neil McCoard and Kerry Remnant at the wheels.

Ah yes with the famous, now illegal wing on it. I loved the look of the big wings, and even better on the hot rods. What was the reason they made them illegal?

Hey Pazza
I wondered where the sidewinder got to.
I was talking about Keiths car before the sidewinder.
