No, he retired to concentrate on his daughters kart racing.

He created some controvrsey in the stockcar class, by being one of the first to buy a new gordge chassis to use.
Which i think was yellow, then slowly converted to a superstock specs, then went to Peter Drake, then Shaun Pearson (the second x drake car he had) then I think went to tony whittiacker?
Thats just about a gordge history for ya Pallmall, if it all stacks up.
Had the standard diff in it for quite awhile. Tony Whittiacker did a good job of trying to kill it teams racing, took some major damage.

as i understand it, the biggest controversy was when he ditched the expensive rover v8 for a toyota v8, this excited the local lads a bit, and was instrumental in a rule change ultimately, excluding multi valve engines from standard stocks. i also understand that all this prompted the move to superstocks.
please correct me if i have this wrong.

You are spot on Rick, I also recall the only hassle that prevented Dayne from actually getting the Toyota to run properly was the inlet manifold, which also helped in his decision to go Superstock.
Dayne's appearance in the Superstock ranks certainly raised the bar in appearances, all his cars were always immaculately presented, a credit to him, his team the signman, and laterly, Headcase Designs.

Also, I believe the Herb Tarrant car is built up from the bones of this car, which means both the Tarrant cars are ex Dayne Wright machines.

How did you know I had a small pile of Dayne Wright Gordge photos sitting beside me waiting to be scanned? Will have to go and sort out the McGordge ones as well now. I would also finish off the Ray Wright thread if the person who promised me some more photos would remember to send them to me! And on that note I can remember Dayne in his pram and pushchair in the pits at Wacky Park back in the day, I used to chuckle when I saw Dayne with his own kids coming through the pits, history repeating.
