I'm a new zealand champ junkie and no-way,
SNZ should not grant approvel either, its an entertainment thing a number of fans travel around nz to see who will win 1 NZ,
Bum's on seats !
I have been blessed with a big bum but not big enough to be at 2 tracks on the same night.

I voted yes even though I am a championship junkie as well. It is a good date to run a major meetings with plenty of people able to organise holidays/time off at that time. Sure there are a few of us who would like to go to both. But realistically only a certain percentage of us could afford the time and/or money to island hop if they were a week apart. The vast majority of both crowds will be made up from people living closer to the respective track, so any spectators who would like to go to both will be made up for many times over by locals who are looking for something to do in the holidays. I would love to have every track arrange their events to suit me, but that is never going to happen is it

NO NO NO It really bugs me that spanz can't get it together over these titles, running stockcars against the saloons etc, contact v non-contact, would be fine, but to run Supersaloons against Mod's is just plain stupid. We have cars that would compete in both and will now have to think about what is to be done, i.e. go to both or drop one in favour of the other, given that the mod's are in our home town, I know what I would choose. Stupid thats all I can say.

I'm looking foward to SPANZ running the NZ champs for Super Stocks on the same days as Stockcars. Can't imagine SNZ (Stockcars NZ) allowing that!!!!

I'm certainly a "no" as well. Tracks that race Mods generally race Super Saloons as well, so the fan base is largely the same. It is wrong on so many levels........

Maybe if SPANZ were able to approve the dates these kinds of clashes wouldn't happen as most of the clubs (which includes the drivers as they are SPANZ members to as club members) would work together to increase their own crowds and as such think about these kinds of things.

If it got past spanz then SNZ should have done something also. Dan, we really need to come up north next season, as it has been a long time since we got to run up your way. Just not to sure what meeting/s we will come up for yet. Looking forward to coming up there for something.

running stockcars against the saloons etc, contact v non-contact, would be fine, Why does contact & non-contact make it any different? This season just gone had speedway fans & speedway drivers not competing in but keen to watch (esp. those from around the South Island) having to make the choice of which meeting to attend to watch - NZ Streetstock Champs at Eastern States in Blenheim or NZ Super Saloon Champs at Cromwell. There are drivers & fans alike interested in both contact & non-contact grades.

Hi crashtest, would have loved to race a Huntly speedfest but you have to be invited and at this stage we have not had an invite to attend, maybe in the future. Craig, with the amount of NZ/South Island titles up for grabs across so many grades, you are going to get double ups, so I guess at the very worst you could have contact/non contact grades run against each other. In saying that though, there was more contact in the NZ Supersaloons than in the Superstock title the week before. Go figure.

Maybe they do have the interests of the long term good of speedway in mind by allowing both tracks to NZ championships on such a prime date. If we are going to grow the spectator base of our sport we have to run our prime events at a time when the casual spectator is likely to have the time to attend. All to often in the past small self interested pressure groups, (in this case we fanatic's that frequent Macgors), are catered to without the long term good in mind. Even though these are both events that I would like to attend I say well done on a sensible decision that I hope will result in full houses for both tracks.

Sorry but totally disagree!!, it seams crazy to have two of the top classes running a NZ title at the same time!, If there is a NZ title in town and you are trying to attract new people in the gate i think that making sure no clash with other events ie: Rugby, cricket, shows etc would be more important than the actual date, lets not forget that those "self interested pressure groups that visit Macgors" that you talk about are the people that pay there money at the gate week in and week out!! and would go to there title of choice regardless of when and where. I know i would go to both.
