All photos now available for viewing here: www.sportsimages.co.nzThe day dawned.... Then brightened right up... They gathered at the Waihi Beach track ready for racing. The view is a cracker from the bank... The commentary team, Aaron Drever and Mike Howe, a top days entertainment provided by these two, well done guys. Then onto the racing, and this local lad in his V8 Escort was friggen awesome. I understand he ended up having a skid in a stockcar and rung the neck out of that too.... They even crashed like SNZ cars too, but there was no drama. There was no need to restrain the drivers and the verbals certainly didn't carry to my ears. The cars were towed off and thats was that... Ivan King lent his car to a heap of people to drive, he would have been happy that this was soft dirt and not concrete, no damage! Former stockcar racer, Duggan Hart had a peddle of the Aaron King Stockcar. Lou Wymer took Michelle's Saloon for a blatt around the track too, and used every inch of it..... Steve Gray had the 98H flying.... There were no huge hits in the stockcar races, in fact I think this was the tightest they came all day... Gribbs gave the Holden a good workout.... Murray Guy came, got damage, then tried to take photos.... Paul Managh got drive of the day for his burst in the second race, he chucked it out wide and left his foot hard down in what was a cracking piece of driving...
