I have been doing some thinking and wondering if the speedway community can help me.
How many RWD production saloons are racing around the country last season or will be last season and how have they gone compared to all those dam Hondas that seem to win alot!!!

there is not a huge amount of rwd around compared with fwd, hondas are not the only fwd wining , there some good mitsis out there to, time will tell weather the bigger rwd will be competitive, i think they will, but will come down to set up and driving , we had a regular visitor last season in a 300zx rwd that had some good runs

if a few of the die hard RWD fans get into skylines and other nissans i think they can do quite well if they step up from the old holdens...
get into some higher rev range and easier parts. lots of tricks to get them set up well.

I have seen the 300zx and a cefiro at 2ks, they dont go 2 bad but are no where as quick as the hondas as i have noticed anyway.
I have seen some quick mitsis too, but i am not a fan of fwd cars and would prefer to be sliding ;D
Have been thinking of building a skyline up to race, i know there used to be lots of holdens and escorts but they are seem to have droped away over thelast few years...

Ba's? Yep, are dirt cheap as no-one wants the early ones & I did get told (& confirmed it) of a couple that were high km trade in's & were bought just to dismantle (complete road cars) as good undamaged stock as the re-conditionable cost to get tidy & nice outweighed the cars value. High km stock agents car, hammered by stones underneath & also battered all around etc.
Perfect base for a Production saloon though....

The falcon might go well. I reckon a 2 door skyline should go alright. Theres 3 skylines here in gis, They finish mid pack but im sure with playing around with set up they could go better.. The biggest problem is rwd cars are usually bigger than fwd and the tyre limit 205's make it hard to get traction

Everyone down here should know the name Michael Graham well early this year he sold his Nissan 300zx and man that car bet all the SNZ cars out at Oxford , Ellesmere and Ashburton. Also Jamie Hobby at the glen flys round in dear i say it a falcon. We got/had some good rwd cars down here.
Cheers

not many rwds down this way at the glen last season with the first rwd coming in at 11th in the points for the 08-09 season. Had 3 maybe 4 rwds out of a consistant field of 13/14 cars, will be interested to see how many rwds this year. The first 3 cars were 1st v-tec prelude, 2nd v3000, 3rd primera.

In a few years time we will be able to buy cheap Altezza's, Silvia;s, BMW's, and the likes. There are plenty are good RWD cars out there, set-up correctly, and in the hands of the right driver, they are a force to be reckoned with.

well my car came 4th on points last year at Huntly and its a 2ltr cortina and also the rule on tyres is no longer 205's it 205mm but they dont state where that is to be measured from so get a tyre that is 205mm across the tread and your fine, well thats what we will be doing.

codi i think you better re read rule or you will have a lot of tyres that are no good
T11-15-14 Tyres (a) Standard road tyres only permitted. (b) Standard road tread, maximum tread groove to be 10mm wide and 10mm deep and must follow the original pattern, with no cross grooving permitted. (c) Vehicles with ABS, Traction Control and/or drive by wire must use the original tyre size, unless the standard width is larger than 205mm. If the original tyre width is greater than 205mm, the maximum allowable tyre width is 205mm. (d) Maximum tyre width for all other vehicles is 205mm. (e) The Manufacturer’s rating as displayed on the sidewall determines tyre width. (f) All wheels and tyres are to stay within the confines of the body profile.

pretty sure thats 205mm contact to the tracke,so if you get a 225 with quite a broad shoulder, when its inflated it will measure about 205mm on the tread foot....if that makes sense.. well thats how i interpret it anyway.......
