is this correct , copyed of the tank website After a very excited phone call from Scotty last week we got the news that Jack placed 5th and 4th in the heats, and then won the feature race! This makes Jack the first Kiwi to have won a Grand Final race in any class at a UK Speedway, all from the back of the field too! You can read more about it here - macgors.freehostia.com/JMiersUK/JMiersUK.html surely ivan mauger would be wouldnt he ?, taking nothing away from jack welldone

It probably should read 4-wheeled Speedway. Graeme Barr almost won a Final around 1990, but got rolled and bowled on the final turn. Have pics of it somewhere - it was a good despatch job

You are completely correct and it should only refer to car classes . You can add Ronnie Moore, and Barry Briggs as well . Even then perhaps Neil McCoard was another winner although I can't recall what races he did win . Ray New also won races way back as well .
That grand historian 'Pallmall' has given me a heads up on the above.

Ray New was riding solos in the UK when stockcars started in 1954. He got involved (as Steve Storm due to solo contracts) and was a Final winner at least twice in the first two seasons of Brisca stockcars.
I have a feeling that Neil did win a Final on one of his visits, but just haven't had time to dig through the records to confirm.
Whatever, it is a great effort by Jack Miers, I am sure the Poms will try to stop him from a repeat this coming weekend in the finals, but I hope he can manage the win.

I think you'll find also that last year wen Nick Vallance and Alan Mcrobbie went over for the world final for Hot stocks, Alan had a 1st and a third in heat 1 and 2 and also won the feature race which make jack miers not the only kiwi to have won a grand final in the UK

Also wasn't Neil awarded the driver of the month during his visit to the UK?
