was asked by a friend the other day who is right into motor sport if anyone had ever run a diesel engine in a stockcar and if not why not can anyone answer this question for me as other than the obvious engine size and speed issues cant see a reason why or is there something in the rule books thats bans them

the fuel injection issue is only part of it.(as thats a trial still) and the fuel (as per the rule book) E4 FUEL & FUEL TANKS E4-1 Fuels E4-1-1 (i) Petrol is restricted to commercially available products as supplied and by defined in the New Zealand Oil Companies, Petroleum Products Specifications and Regulations 2003 (See SNZ website, . (iii) Avgas 100 will comply with ASTM D910 and DEF STAN 91-90 (DERD 2485), specifications www.speedway.co.nz. E4-2 Approved Fuels (b) Saloons and Production Saloon, Superstocks, Stockcars: Avgas, 100, Petrol just petrol and avgas.

and you can run forced induction, which pritty much makes a diesel under 4.0l completely useless, just look at no turbo sarfari's, 4.2l diesel, which can get mowed off by a honda city ;D
